Best bang for the buck news source?

I'm wondering what traders on this board use as their news source? I am not trading enough $$ to justify paying thousands for a bloomberg feed, but am getting frustrated seeing a big move in a stock price and not knowing the reason for 30 minutes. I know a lot of the breaking news is coming out...

    Ameritrade vs Interactive Brokers

IB has better fills, Ameritrade has better pricing model for anything more than 1000-1400 shares depending on your price. At Ameritrade I feel like I'm getting front-run more often. They route mainly through Citadel and Direct Edge where your orders probably get flashed and then front-run by...

    Starting a small managed fund

I have some similar questions as the original poster.. I've had a decent run in the market and am contemplating starting a fund if I can pull off a couple more years of decent returns. I'm already doing some trading for friends and family in their own accounts, and am satisfied with the...

    Steve Cohen

Considering that so many "corrupt" hedge fund managers seem to have learned the ropes at SAC, definitely have to assume there's something going on there. Stevie definitely seems like the Teflon Don of the hedge fund industry.

How much money have you lost before figuring it out???

Lost about $30K (back in 1999) before realizing that the "little guy" essentially has no chance trying to daytrade equities for a living. Reading this board will make you think otherwise, which is a disservice I think. Started trading again in 2007 but with a very good mentorship arrangement...

    Steve Cohen

Every "corrupt" hedge fund manager seems to have learned the ropes at SAC before launching their own funds. You have to think that there's some connection here even though Stevie seems to be the Teflon Don of the hedge fund industry.

    free data feed?

IB is limited to 100 tickers at once. And it's not real tick-data.

    Risk vs. trade size

I know your response was just meant to illustrate the point of not being to practically use the formula to make real bets on the market. However, I don't think this really applies to poker, at least at a $40 buy-in table. I can't think of too many people who wouldn't call an all-in bet...

    Risk vs. trade size

Thanks for the replies. The Kelly formula was basically what I was looking for. I do realize that it's impossible to calculate risk, but the question would've been difficult to ask otherwise since I'm trying to factor out psychology and get something theoretically correct.

    Risk vs. trade size

Hi. This is my first post and I'm a newbie to the world of trading as well. I have a theoretical question perhaps someone can give me some insight into. Are there any good algorithms or just thoughts from experienced traders on the board for determining the correct trade size given varying...
