    Retail routing to IEX exchange

As of last friday, IEX was not available yet from IB. Spoke to a rep at IB who said it would be a few more days.

    Best free delayed news feed

Was wondering if anyone has suggestions for a free news feed if I'm not concerned about getting it in real time? End of the day would be fine for me. I'm mainly interested in archiving the news for historical analysis, so would like to have a pretty complete set of news pertaining to all...

Do You Have To Be Somewhat of a Sociopath To Trade?

One aspect of being a sociopath is a disregard for others. This could border on feeling no remorse for unethical behavior, or feeling no remorse for taking money from "innocent" people. I do think these attributes definitely help in trading. I think there are many successful traders out there...

    Shoud broker compensate the loss?

I don't think they're liable for anything, but many online brokers will give compensation in the form of free trades. You should call in and complain EVERY time you notice the site is down, even if you didn't suffer any losses because of it.

Starting a fund / raising capital

You might consider opening an account at Covestor. Although it probably can't be considered audited performance, you will get a semi-official track record out there and it might be useful for generating leads. Assuming you can keep up the performance, you could get a decent number of people...

    Iceberg/Hidden order types

Does anyone know which retail brokers support iceberg and hidden order types? I currently use Interactive Brokers which supports both, but would like to open an alternate account somewhere else which supports these. Thanks, -SH

Would It Be Rude To Ask If I Can Shadow A Day Trader?

This is an interesting proposal. If I lived in one of those cities I would be tempted to take you up on it. Unfortunately I'm in boring ol' US of A.

    Devastating after hours trade...SCREWED!!

As someone already mentioned (in less detail), you do have 20 minutes to break a trade if it is a clear mistake and grossly outside the range of previous trades in the stock. This is an exchange policy, not an IB policy. It's too late now, but you definitely need to be aware since it's going to...

Program to alert and check IB account value?

I don't know of a program that will do this out-of-the-box, but if this is a sanity check / alert mechanism for your IB account, IMHO it makes sense to pull the data from directly from IB using the API...

C# Developer Wanting To Learn Trading Strategy Development.

I don't think this thread warrants this much controversy. OP's offer sounds sincere and there are probably some folks willing to exchange some work to learn some knowledge which might not be that easily acquired otherwise.

Anyone experiencing QT problems today? Having some login problems here even though Ameritrade streamer is working fine.

    raising funds

I'm not particularly knowledgeable about this subject as I've never had to raise money myself. However, had a couple of thoughts anyway. If you're not interested in prop trading which some on the thread have suggested, you could try and open an account on covestor. I believe the minimum size for...

    raising funds

As an aside, after watching several episodes of "American Greed" on CNBC, I'm always bewildered by the large number of people willing to give money to scam artists without doing any due diligence simply based on their "charm" or "honest appearance". Anyway, I suspect that raising $100K would...

Up 33%, but almost all of it in the first half of the year.

    Successful poker player

The rules in poker are much more well-defined and it's easier to acquire information from other players, books, training sites. The main difficulty is probably the work you put in and the amount of hands you play. It's also a relatively fair game (UB/FTP scandals aside). IMHO trading is a...

Anyone know the implications of the current rescue plan (50% haircut on Greek bonds) on this trade?

Is IB designed to just feed liquidity to Timber Hill?

If you believe that there are profitable algorithmic strategies that target and trade against retail order flow, then it's natural to understand there's some paranoia around how brokers get your trade executed. Not saying that they are necessarily trading against you themselves, but many brokers...

Thanks for providing the details. I hadn't seen specifics discussed anywhere.

Is IB designed to just feed liquidity to Timber Hill?

If not then what is the logic that SMART routing uses to obtain price improvement above NBBO? I assume orders would have to be transmitted to any venue which offers the possibility of price improvement (e.g. Directedge ELP) If I'm mistaken, can you tell me what I'm missing? Is there a white...

Is IB designed to just feed liquidity to Timber Hill?

Just read through the entire thread and I'm still confused.. Does Timber Hill have any visibility into all SMART orders regardless of whether they are the execution venue? I assume that as part of the 'price improvement' logic, the order would have to be transmitted to them to see if they can...
