Reasons to be Bearish on NG

If it helps, oilsands extraction is somewhere around $60/barrel. Saudi's get it for about a third the cost. Encana says it currently costs them $3.70 per MMBtu to extract gas from Haynesville and they are trying to get the costs down to $3.00, so it looks like costs have improved since 2009...

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

I found 2009 sources that said fracking costs more than conventional gas extraction methods so they can't be profitable at these prices. With non-existent profits, earthquakes, water and air contamination and now questions about trapping the water below the earth's surface (the Texas drought...

I thought of this comment when I heard this morning that the Chinese company Shandong Gold is buying Jaguar Mining. Shandong Gold to buy Burkina Faso, Mali or Tanzania next? :) Shandong Gold Offers to Buy Jaguar Mining for $1 Billion SHANGHAI—State-owned Shandong Gold Group Co. of...

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

I'm hoping to catch a capitulation bottom. Thursday perhaps? I also buy into the idea that nat gas may go up as the rest of the stock market goes down. I have seen some commentary about the idea of short oil/long nat gas. That looks interesting too.

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

Bob, if you're asking me, I'm afraid I don't really have an intelligent response. Contango seems to be entering into it. Plus there's a lot of bearish discussion about injections into inventory (this Thursday an all time high may be reported). Maybe weather. CLNE otoh, was up 15% today.

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

You're right, Honda GX, but I just heard about it today. "Honda will begin selling the natural gas-fueled Honda Civic GX at more than 200 dealerships in 36 states, including Texas, this December. The model, which retails at $26,925, debuted in four states last year."...

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

I bought natural gas today at $3.59. I think today we make a higher low and don't retest the lows made in October (under $3.50). We are past the shoulder season slump, weather should cool down in NY, the rig count just out is bullish (gas rigs declining, oil rigs increasing), Honda is coming...

    I've Abandoned My Euro!!

Carney made headlines yesterday (in Canada at least) saying that the world needs more liquidity. And here I thought we were awash already. Maybe Draghi will acquiesce and print, in which case the Euro is a good short here, but I wouldn't do so until after Bernanke's speech tomorrow. Ben may...

Reasons to be Bearish on NG

Here's a reason to be less bearish. It's old news, except for the firm's admission and that it's getting mainstream press. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=natural-gas-firm-says-shale-fracking-caused-earthquakes LONDON, Nov 2 (Reuters) - Shale gas exploration triggered...

Gold stocks did well today. Einhorn and others predict gold stocks will shine. http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-11-01/greenlight-s-einhorn-bets-miners-beat-gold-after-substantial-disconnect-.html There was also a goldbug on BNN today saying that if gold did not reach $2000 by April he...

The weekly: Greece to default/restructure THIS weekend? thread

This source says January, I heard December elsewhere. "Greece is due to receive an 8 billion-euro tranche in mid-November, but that is likely to run out during January, around the time of the referendum, leaving the government with no funds if there is a "no" vote."...

Flem may have been early, but seems like Mr. Doaks’ call re: gold and silver appears to be spot on. Btw, I am often early myself. Could be a family trait, seeing as how we are vaguely related. My last name is Compson.
