cabletrader, The above could also pertain to voters. Oh yes, and tighted up the USD/MXN please so I can scalp it! :D Btw, I'd be interested in knowing about the deficiencies of the FSA's 'secured creditor' laws. Why are they not ideal? Would like to hear more... Take care.

As you point out, unfortunately this has been a fact since the beginning of time. Just look at the South Sea scams... all because Britain needed to pay off its war debt. Ah yes, war debt seems to be a recurring theme... But specifically for forex, there are things that could be done better...

Guys, it doesn't really matter. In the end, we are all just trying to skim the market for some green. The DD vs ECN issue is, as we all know, an emotionally charged topic. The honest, objective stance on this issue is: It depends. The forex market as we know it today is still fairly young...

Are there drawbacks to working with such a liquid market?

Huh? I disagree 100%. During times of low liquidity is when things get bumpy.

is short USD/CNY a sure thing?

You might want to check out the USD/CNY on the CME fx futures. It probably isn't very liquid, but for a long term trade, this might not be such a big deal. the swap is somthing you need to look into though

No, but I did. :D Here are others: Forget about scalping during the asian session on CME. Also, that 1 tick can become multiple ticks if you factor in slippage (same as in spot). I still think that having 16+ spot crosses vs 6 on futures is a plus point for spot. One good thing about futures...

You nailed it. On one hand we are not seeking to open a 3 figure retail account, but on the other we certainly won't be pushing 100 mill orders thorough the interbank. As shaky as that boat may be, we seem to be both in it. ;) The Asian session can offer some ranging opportunities on the...

Hi cabletrader, Yes indeed. It was kind of dead on arrival. I could be that they would consider opening their doors to retail players, but if the liquidity isn't there to begin with, then retail traders would probably be better off sticking with their DDs. Plus they only offer about 10...

Same here. And no, I have not used it (yet). Even if they let us in, they would probably end up padding the spread/commission to compensate for the lack of trading volume. Might as well use MBT in that case. Since forex lends itself to long-term trading (weeks, months). I like to sometimes...

FX MOST liquid Crosses top ten..

As for fx futures, the problem is that this market space is created by global businesses wanting to hedge currency risks, not mainly by banks (or CBs). If you want to trade a pairs that involves 2 countries that don't trade frequently, you are out of luck in terms of liquidity (EUR/AUD for...

Sure. Unless you don't count aggregated ECNs to the 'true' interbank network. VCAP is one example.

What Cable is saying is that regardless if ECN or DD, your order will end up on somebody's dealing desk. Also, if you are dealing with an honest DD, then your order will end up on the interbank anyway (if the DD believes that your bet is correct and doesn't want to take a counter position)...

Agreed on how MMs deal with orders, but you don't need millions to dealing on the interbank. 250,000 USD (leveraged) is enough.

    Exotic stock markets

CBuster, hehe you got me there... my bad. :D When I put down EU, I only considered the majors: DAX, FTSE, etc.. But of course, you are right.

Cable, what did he say that was so off the mark? It is true that most retail traders never get access to true interbank liquidity.

Anybody here ever traded the more exotic stock markets like the Irish Stock Exchange (Xetra), Istanbul Stock Exchange or Italian Stock Exchange? Recommendation, opinions welcome!

FX MOST liquid Crosses top ten..

The CME is not what I'd call liquid for anything other than USD crosses. Forget GBP/JPY or EUR/AUD (which are fairly liquid over spot). But indeed, the CME futures market is closer to being a 'real' market compared to the Market Making space. But, if you have the funding, go with an ECN or...

    Broker and Platform

But you are an IB for Dukascopy. ;-) However, I concur with that. You should at least try their demo at http://www.dukascopy.com/swiss/english/forex/demo_fx_account/ Also, give them a call and you'll see that you are dealing with a different group than you usually would.

Cheap, volitile stocks with good volume

Is there any way to search for cheap, volitile stocks with relatively good volume? It seems to me that this should be fairly easy to code if one had access to tick data.
