    Do you like people?

How about animals? :D:D Actually I don't for one minute believe that you dislike ppl in general...specific may be:p but no way...you have proven yourself to be patient and kind in too many posts to ever be a misanthrop. You'll have to change your M O

Thats because like most MM's your basic skepticism/pessimism lends itself to high vol...bear markets:( You'll be crying when the markets turn into a pussycat bull:p (however no clue when that will happen:confused: ) I KNOW Riskarb is lurking and LHAO!

I have no clue if this will be of any help to you...but 1) Unless you have a number of years of experience trading equities with success DON'T trade options on equities. Instead find 1-3 indices/etf's that you can research (know the basis of the underlying) and then use your Greeks and TA...

Thats very interesting Bob, you and I have had very similar experiences..except I went live (trading sm # of contracts)rather than virtual and yes Jan, Feb Mar were really easy months. May and June were certainly a challenge in all markets. Your right about there being premium in the RUT...

Hi Neal.. a good friend in the oil/gas industry used to say how cyclical that industry was. OIH actually doesn't follow oil because as oil goes up it gets more expensive for the oil "services" industry. I had a put cal on the OIH and it has done very well so I just figured that perhaps NOW...

My "legs" haven't been working too well lately!:( edit. perhaps the vol's have been a little high for cal's however I'm now doing an OIH call cal...might just have to restart that....

A few thoughts on the SPX. I do not believe a discussion of the potential direction of the SPX is OT. Putting on a CS...even FOTM requires "some" bias because in high vol times your 2 sigma OTM could very quickly become 1 sigma then actually threatened. So I would argue that opinion, as long...

Took advantage of the last minute turnaround in the market to close the 1235/1225 put spread (rolled down from the infamous 1245 from May. Fill was .50 so that part of the saga is now closed. I probably didn't need to close as the vix is really down and I don't think we'll see 1235 by exp...

Hi Riskarb...did you put on a hedge on the NDX play today? Got a bit close for comfort but looks like it might just be turning around the last two hours.

    Another, "Is it just me..."

Hi MM not replying for DB but I assume he meant that trading stocks is simple in the fact it is purely directional. Options have several other components to look at and evaluate...however when you learn this you can make MORE money trading options with LESS risk than the purely directional...

what is the problem of butterfly strategy ?

Thanks for bringing this thread to life. I've been trying to "do" B-fly's on the cheap (on the NDX) with mixed success. I was rather shocked to find out that they are actually low probability/low risk/ high reward trades. I just prefer the high probability/low reward trades. However when...
