    This "edge" stuff

Yes the market's short-term inefficiencies provide opportunities. As you say, I think these opportunities for arb will become smaller and harder to find as information becomes more widespread and easily available and many things become automated/computerized.

    This "edge" stuff

Yes.. my friends, that is the secret. All you have to do is buy when the arrows turn green and sell when they turn red! It's that simple! Oh dear. I just gave away the edge. :P But in all seriousness, dictionary.com defines edge: 5. A margin of superiority; an advantage: a...

    This "edge" stuff

Yes... when I think of the word 'edge' as it applies here I think of statistical probability, kind of like in casinos how the house has an 'edge' over you... namely statistically the games are in their favor... the thing is, casino games etc are all based on statistical probability that can be...

    This "edge" stuff

Thanks to all who have posted. This thread caught my eye because I was in an interview today with an investment firm (private wealth management/HNW managing type) and in the process of demonstrating what I've been working on lately I got asked by a manager what my 'edge' was. I replied pretty...

Here's a copy/paste from the email I just sent out: Hey all Hope you all are doing well. Mr. Market owned me this week :P I did take slight humour in all of the sudden articles from "experts" about how they _KNEW_ we were in for a turnaround... of course, these articles were published...

    Is my career over?

oh god I hope you're still not looking to make it all back "500 at a time". Everything that needs to be said to you, Truth, has already been said. It is up to you to decide if you will listen or not. From the tone of your postings, I think you'll not, until the 8000 you have left is 0. I...

Thanks for coming, those who could make it. We had a pretty good open-ended discussion and it was nice putting faces to names. The location was pretty nice as well, but too bad I didn't have the wifi password. I'll have to get it next time when we meet. Let's have another get-together...

whos interested in designing a system from scratch?

Agree with Paccc. I'm also a relatively new user to Wealth-Lab but have been developing a nice system based on EOD data and a moving average. I do a little bit of programming so the wealth-script comes pretty intuitively for me, but Wealth-Lab isn't that hard to use... lots of features...

Any part-time trader here with a proper day job?

Yahoo has pretty nice EOD data.. with historical prices in exportable format to excel too. 20 minute delay, though.. so it really is limited to EOD.
