Short Stock and Hedge with Calls!

SLK, FOC, BEAR, from what I read some of the prop firms allow this strategy, Don Bright has said some of his traders do this but they don't encourage it. Search for previous threads.

    Remote trading in Brazil

Be carefull what you say, the P.C. policeman is after you. Iguaçu Falls looks pretty cool. Do you have any more recommendations in your area? Five star hotels(real ones) are fairly inexpensive across Southeast Asia. The Four Seasons in Singapore is a little more than 200 a night. As...

why THE HELL is it so easy to do the wrong thing...

I say this because, earlier today, I went back and read a lot his posts from the summer. Nothing has changed, it is the same thing over and over. There needs to be some sort of learning curve. He hasn't demonstrated one. Taking some time off would be the best thing he could do. He's...

    Remote trading in Brazil

Those places are pretty cool and cheap. I have thought about spending January in Singapore; it has one of the cheapest Four Seasons in the world(that should send Reverendtrader into a tizzy). Actually, a good friend of mine is a trader(in the historical sense of the word) and travels the...

    Remote trading in Brazil

Would you please explain in what way Brazil is bigger than the U.S.? You are simply factually wrong. I'll drop the crime thing as mrkmps is cool with it. No need to discuss it any longer. I'll just say this; When somebody responds to a legitimate point with an intellectually lazy response...

Should Gordon Gekko Post His Trades Or Shut Up?

You should have included quit trading all together. I think his posts have highly constructive as well, but, he doesn't seam to have it.

Let's take a look at what Mr. Gordon Gekko has said in the past: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=76773#post76773 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=76778#post76778 http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=76925#post76925...

Gordon, you seem pretty emotional. It's not just this thread, I've noticed it before. Doing the opposite isn't about the system; it's about emotions and the thought process. You will still lose no matter where the targets or stops are placed unless you command them both. How many posts...

    Remote trading in Brazil

I never took your post as an attack. It is a very appropriate question and you did correct me where I made an inappropriate assertion. In fact, my initial list could have been stated better, if even at all, since it was off topic. Visiting Venezuala is not going to make me a Chavez supporter...

    Remote trading in Brazil

One idea is to open an account in Jersey. Many banks there are setup to handle exactly what you are looking for. They cater to expats who want to keep their money secure and avoid taxes when appropriate. HSBC and Barclays are the two big ones. You don't need a lot open the account at either.

    Remote trading in Brazil

Hehehe, I believe the correct description would be ethnocentric. How do I wear rose colored glasses, when looking at the U.S. or South America? The initial post in question was a response to somebody asking what Latin American countries are stable. It is quite appropriate in such context to...

    Remote trading in Brazil

No, I have never even visited these places. I am a prolific reader. I just look at these places from an American perspective. In other words, what standards of safety, luxury, stability and other factors a typical middle, upper middle or affluent person from America would expect. Things are...

I would say Chile and Costa Rica as well. As far as I know, Belize is ok. List: Argentina: F%$%^ up Brazil: High crime, will be more F*%*% up after Lula gets done with it. Venezuala: F&^*(& up Equador: had a coup a couple of years ago, dollarized, stable for the moment as long as oil...

Somethings could cost more such as housing. Brazil is not a very safe country nor is it first world, it may cost more than expected for a level of comfort and security that you are used to. Also, you will be viewed as a wealthy American which means you pay the special gringo rate plus be a...

Beers and Smoke before or while trading

I had a boss who engaged in both on a daily basis. His mind was pretty well fried. I don't remember exactly if he smoke pot during the day but definitely did after the market closed(never saw him outside of work when he didn't light up). He would show up once a week on the floor sloppy drunk...

I just reread your original post. You were doomed with that line of thinking. My last job trading, I was paranoid every time the phone would ring in the pit that it was my boss calling to ask what was happening to the position. I would always kick ass whenever he went on vacation. If you are...
