Does anybody here actually trade this? Through whom?

    Options Analysis Program

Besides an actual P&L, a theoretical one as well would be nice. Say you set the IV to 50, you buy a ten lot of atm calls at 49 IV with a vega of 5 and then sell otm calls for a 55 vol with a vega of 3. You would calculate the theoretical profit you have if the positions were covered at exactly...

How have you done in this latest rally?

I worked for a group that managed one these hedge funds, it would have done awesome this year as well. Overall, it looks like hedge funds haven't performed as well as the S&P after a three year run of outperformance. It shouldn't be surprising, as what worked well during that time, hasn't...

How have you done in this latest rally?

My reference wasn't related to the commercials or the futures, but to hedge funds. If JJC isn't spouting crap, many of these people haven't had a great two months and their returns for this year are trailing the S&P 500. I saw a post here in the last couple of days where Todd Harrisson hasn't...

Ideas for intervals: 1. percentage 2. strikes 3. user defined interval, .50, 1, 2, 5, etc... 4. It would be cool if a standard deviation interval could be included either using the IV of the atm or the trader determined vol. I typically base my trades off of 3 and 4.

How have you done in this latest rally?

The nonreportable are the retail traders? What has been amazing about this move is, if the reports floating around are correct, how many professionals have missed this move. The so called smart money in hedge funds apprarently haven't fully participated. I'm waiting for a blow off rally...

Yep, another good idea. Most of the time, you want the implied volatility to stay static when making greek calculations. Option traders typically want to input their own IVs into the models which is why being able to set the vol for each strike is important. So, while the IV's may change...

    High volatility

I'll use that one when things are quiet. Yesterday, I went to Ivolatility.com to find something to trade and did enter a few orders, but it wasn't anything especially exciting, nothing got filled anyways. Maybe trdmac is doing the same thing as me, taking nice long coffee breaks, relaxing...

    High volatility

I originally was looking at doing a 1 by 2, as in BPUR. However, this thing could easily go to the mid 20's. I have to rethink it.

Where do you find these things! I spent an hour yesterday looking for something to trade. Not as interesting as BPUR, the edge is much tighter and the markets very efficient. Although, the skew is pretty flat which is an opportunity in itself.

    NewB's trading journal

My advice is never to buy out of the money calls for sheer speculation unless they are in the months further out.

    Options Analysis Program

Is a beta avilable for download? I don't use IB for option trading, but I do have an account there to give my opinion. A couple of ideas: 1. A button to automatically hedge deltas with stock. If the program shows your long 500 deltas, you could hit a button that would load up a sell...

That would explain why, when I was trading there, the skew was so flat.

It was frickin awesome, 150+ vols points in a matter of minutes. The puts, which were trading for anywhere from $1.00 to $1.35 the previous couple of days with stock around 6, I bought for 10 cents. I was kind of shocked looking at the P&L over the weekend. It wasn't a lot but it was such a...

My brother moved away to northern Cal to work for a nursery(yeah and my front yard looks like shit), don't insult gardners like that. They are like artists with love for their product unlike these assholes who have no appreciation for true beauty.
