    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

I believe the relationship between TSLA and (RYT or VOT) is largely spurious. There's nothing about TSLA that you would expect to influence those two ETF's so I wouldn't place much emphasis on the correlation (which is high over two years and falls off over the previous year). Indeed, TSLA is...

Interactive Brokers Revising Fees for Data

Good question. Why drop a grand a year on data fees if you don't have to? Hope you get some thoughtful replies from some of ET's more mature members.

    PL/GC

It's a nice setup, but I just don't like being short gold. Any whiff of a crisis and I don't think any spread will hedge a jump in gold.

    Do ETFs have counterparty risk?

They are still ETF's and their basket may include futures or options to gain the leverage. Credit risk isn't so much the issue with leveraged ETFs as the roll yield can impact long term holdings.

    Do ETFs have counterparty risk?

I haven't heard of credit risk with ETF's since they generally hold a basket of securities. But ETN's (Exchange Traded Notes) are structured with unsecured debt and have credit risk of default. I'm not aware if it's ever happened, though.

    Print-friendly view

I hope the Printer-Friendly view we had in the prior generation of this forum software comes back in a future release. It's a feature that I see in just about every other forum I participate in and is more convenient than the copy/paste workaround.

    The ACD Method

Maybe I can help refine your questions to be more specific and prompt more discussion on this interesting subject. Spreads (in the context of trading one product against another) generally fall into one of five categories: 1) Seasonal, 2) Relative Strength, 3) Mean Reversion, 4) Volatility...

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

The options spread you suggest is a vol dispersion spread and I usually see it with OTM options and put on for a small credit. If you're trading spreads based on relative strength (the spread widening), then an option spread is a more capital efficient play than the outrights.

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

I think of spreads on equities (stocks, ETFs) as spreads of last resort. I would always prefer to trade a futures spread because futures are much more capital efficient and more tax efficient than equities. When I trade equities spreads, it's because of the variety of opportunities that I...

    SpreadProfessor Clients - Thanks !

When I enter spread orders on IB, for these non-guaranteed orders involving stocks/ETFs, I use a "Limit+Market" order. When the limit price is reached for the spread, the first leg is executed as a limit order. Then after the first leg is filled, the second leg is executed as a market order...

    Exchange Futures Spreads on IB

CQG is a bit more expensive than eSig. Does CQG provide better charting for spreads, or is it better suited for intraday trading because of its spread DOM?

New video on Intermarket analysis in TradeStation

Murray, in previous articles you have stated that one cannot perform intermarket analysis with percentages or ratios using backadjusted continuous contracts. How does this data series limitation compare with your current Tradestation system?

Why are oil prices so low?

Are you sure about that? The news reports I've seen indicated there is no supply pressure coming from OPEC countries and Saudi has announced it is not changing production in response to lower prices. I haven't checked any of the industry reports on supply, so you may very well be right.
