I suppose, but given a choice I'd rather see the gap in the chart as it conveys a sudden change in sentiment. Filling it in with bars where no trades occurred masks that. It's sort of the same way with the way TS does volume bars. A lot of people think it's broken because the bars are not...

Agreed. Anything phony is broken, like Heikin-Ashi bars. Sounds correct to me.

I only have a couple of relatively uncorrelated instruments that I trade, don't need anything more to generate enough income for my needs. I have to echo Fractal's approach, export tick data and grind it through a set of perl scripts that I wrote to determine optimal volume bar sizing...

I wouldn't know nor care. None of my trading methodologies require a single intraday backtest of that duration.

While you still can't run a strategy in RadarScreen your indicator can call macros to execute trades. Doesn't matter how the bars are made now that you can define a tick or minute sub-interval for look-inside-bar-backtesting.

So, tell us why it's a Good Thing(tm) to have the security and DRM straightjacket that Vista imposes on you and cannot be disabled?

I remember when people did not perpetually lease or buy cars all the time.

Great article on the real costs of car ownership. IMHO, the carry vs. operating costs chart on the second page clearly shows that the sweet spot exists in buying a two-year old car and keeping it for 3 years...

    So much for Global Warming

Great post. What strikes me when I look at this graph of data compiled from ice core samples are the spikes. It seems to me that we're just unlucky to be living at the start of the downside of one of those spikes.

    So much for Global Warming

You're right, it's too simple. Oil isn't evenly distributed throughout the earth's crust and the deposits that are there vary in quantity and viscosity.

    So much for Global Warming

I have a hard time accepting that a sub-oceanic volcano in the north Atlantic is melting the glaciers in the Himalayas.

    So much for Global Warming

It's amazing how few people understand how absurd any conclusion of climate change is when the sum total of recorded scientific data is a micro fraction of an average glacial cycle.

Open Source Black Box Trade Platform in C#?

The commonly used term is Contributor License Agreement (CLA). The MySQL example is one and there's a pretty good treatment of what they are at: http://www.oss-watch.ac.uk/resources/cla.xml You mentioned setting up an LLC for the project. You may want to consider running it as a...

Open Source Black Box Trade Platform in C#?

Wayne, once you're ready to go full-time with the project you really should consider moving further discussion to Nabble. You've already covered a lot of ground in the past few days, most of it really deserves a separate thread so a more focused discussion for each of the topics, issues, etc...

Open Source Black Box Trade Platform in C#?

Wayne, I have no familiarity with db40, but I'm quite familiar with MySQL, Eclipse and several other mainstream FOSS projects. My personal experience ranges from having my own business as an independent telecommunications software developer and, on the corporate side, as a developer and...

Open Source Black Box Trade Platform in C#?

You're right, there is a lot of interest for good tools and it sounds like Wayne's got a good core from what he's described so far. And, I'd definately like to sink my teeth into a project that isn't going to have the rug pulled out from under us later on, which often happens in this...

Open Source Black Box Trade Platform in C#?

Wayne, you're going to have a tough time getting good people to expend their time and effort towards the project if you force them to surrender their ownership of their contributions to the project. The worst thing that can happen is that they could fork your project so that they retain...
