Elegant Schedule D--managed acct on 1 line OK?

They added them a few years ago (2010?). I think that your solution is a good one as a practical matter. Including the first 5 and last 5 pages seems like a good practical compromise. I was just noting that the IRS has addressed the issue in the instructions for those who want to see...

Elegant Schedule D--managed acct on 1 line OK?

This was done in the past but the explicit instructions of the IRS now say: http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/i8949.pdf Form 8949 instructions page 2: "Do not enter 'available upon request' and summary totals in lieu of reporting the details of each transaction on Part I or II or attached...

Elegant Schedule D--managed acct on 1 line OK?

Whether "managed" or not is irrelevant legally - the accounts are both in your name. You should - merge the transactions detail to look for any capital gains and wash trading implications and also . - provide a detailed list of all transactions. You are certainly not allowed to ignore...

non-offsetting long and short positions on one option contract

No that is not possible because the broker is required to report your net position. When it used to be allowed in Forex it was called "hedging."

    Site Problems this Morning.

Super! That is exactly the right way to do it - as a limited experiment at first to work out the wrinkles. I can think of various aspects, such as - should the thread starter be required to declare at thread-start time the moderation criteria he will use from a set of choices (relevancy...

    ".NET beats JVM any time"...

It's 50-50 so who cares? \ C# and Java are almost identical languages. Learn one and you can program in the other with a few hours of feeling your way. So get familiar with both.

CFTC $1.2 billion fines should be used to repay PFG customers

The CFTC just levied $1.2 billion in fines. http://www.cftc.gov/PressRoom/PressReleases/pr6510-13 It should use a small portion of that (which is all that it would take) to make whole PFG and MFG customers.

BMT is way overhyped and misleading Vs ET

" You are supposed to be mature enough not to ATTACK vendors or regular posters." or attack less-regular posters either (but questioning of all of the above is fine and I believe that that is what was meant......)

Schwab After Hours Trading is BAD !!

Agreed then that this is disgraceful behavior by the broker. I wonder if Schwab allows you to direct orders to a particular venue? Would that be a way around it?

Schwab After Hours Trading is BAD !!

Sounds more likely that your account is not set up properly for after-hours trading. On IB, if you do not have after-hours trading requested, the same thing will happen. Your order will sit there waiting for regular hours trading to begin.

BMT is way overhyped and misleading Vs ET

So far I think the thread is favorable to ET. I expect it will stay that way, and hence is a net plus for ET. Also the title is discreet. Since the thread has now been linked to in a discussion thread on BMT, it will be really interesting to compare the two threads.

    Velocity Futures raises commission

The DDT platform fees are nicely tabulated at http://www.deepdiscounttrading.com/TradingPlatforms.html These are the standard platform fees set by the platform publisher (CQG, CTS, TT etc.) and are the same at (almost) any broker. Occasionally the platform publisher will have a special...

Just to follow up, the scan of my hard disk did eventually find a bunch of Java exploits that had been downloaded onto it at some point, but I do not know when or how - they could have been there for quite a while. They were probably not really a threat to me because I have Java disabled by...

    TradeStation

Strategy development and testing is its main strength. But once you develop strategies in TradeStation, it is easiest to execute them within the same platform. Its execution capabilities may not be the very best, but they are adequate for most uses. People do not always need bells and...

It is funny. http://www.google.com/safebrowsing/diagnostic?site=www.stocktrading.com/robfriesen.html summarizes the site as harmless, but nevertheless includes the line: "Malicious software includes 5 exploit(s)." If you try some other sites, it does not include that line about...

I do not know. Since most anti-virus including Google do not seem to be concerned, I have a feeling it is present on the site, but perhaps mostly harmless in some way. Also, I do have all plugins disabled in Chrome by default. I clicked on that link also earlier and so am right now...
