    A call for Monitor Recommendations

You asked about refurbs... I have a 19in CTX monitor that I bought from a refurb place on Ebay. It has been great. I got it almost 2 years ago for $150 in one of those dutch auctions. Considering the price of those monitors back then, it was a great deal. When I got it I couldn't tell...

    Quad Matrox & GeForce4

I don't know the specs of the TNT cards, but my GeForce3 (64MB) is dual-head and when I plug in a second monitor the quality diminishes tremendously to the point of being unusable. It could be a configuration issue that I am unaware of (that's why I'm a trader and not graphcs card tech), but I...

    Quad Matrox & GeForce4

And all that costs less than one quad card (with enough left over to buy another monitor). Provided you have the free PCI slots, it seems like a no-brainer.

    Quad Matrox & GeForce4

As far as I know, yes. I run TS and can spread it across all the screens regardless of which card is running them. But I am not running 2 Matrox cards, just the Matrox (running two screens) and the GeForce (running 1). I don't think there is any change if you add another Matrox.

    Quad Matrox & GeForce4

I am currently running a GeForce 3 and the Matrox G450 dual monitor card. I had a few driver issues at first, but once I got that settled, its worked great (I had to reinstall the Nvidia drivers after the Matrox card was in). I am running XP. I don't know if you'll get the same results with...

Sharing cable modem with one IP address

I am using the Lynksys 4 port as well. I never could get the standard ICS to work using nic cards with Win2k or WinXP. The router works great. My only problem is that my connection goes down for a couple of seconds several times a day ever since I added the router. I don't know what causes...

    Professional status w/ eSignal?

Yes, I am aware that it is not Esignal's rule, I was referring to the SEC. Thanks for the clarification on the 7.

    Professional status w/ eSignal?

Having the series 7 makes you a "Registered Representative", so you have to sign up as a professional. I think its a stupid rule since you are not providing services to others like a broker would and you are really just using the quotes for personal use. Anyway, I assume if you try to sign...

    Professional status w/ eSignal?

Yes, any NASD license makes you a professional. Doesn't your brother/sister/girlfriend/insertfavoritenonprofessionalhere need realtime quotes? :)

    NYSE nipping at their heels

LS, Only one side would need to be a limit order. If I have a limit to buy on the bid and someone enters a market order to sell, then our orders get matched. Also, if two market orders come in at close to the same time, they could be matched somewhere between the bid and offer. There are...

    NYSE nipping at their heels

I think Tharp means that 20% of the trading volume is traded by the specialist from his own inventory...the other 60% can still be traded on the floor between other parties. Edit: Oops, Robert beat me to it while I was typing...

    Who's got the best training?

I used to work for an RIA that executed through the major brokerages paying 5 cents a share. They were aware of the cheaper electronic path, but everything they used in terms of quotes, Bloomberg, research, etc. was all tied to soft dollars generated from the high commissions. Its easier to...

Random es 1 pt scalp or stop test

aphie, At first the entries were random (since i didn't know which direction the day would take), then I tried a bias based on if we were up or down in the premarket, assuming a little followthrough on the open. In all cases, I ended up with losses after commisssions. Adjusting the stop...

Random es 1 pt scalp or stop test

profitseer, I tested a similar system and posted about it awhile back. I wanted to take advantage of the fact that the ES rarely opened at the exact high or low of the day without trading at least one point in the opposite direction from how it would end the day. With that in mind I wanted...

    Don's Openings, Part 5

Give it a rest Optional. Your disapproval of all things Don is well documented and I'm sure those that value your opinion have long ago incorporated it into their analysis of his posts. I'm beginning to think its just a case of "post envy".
