    Money Management

If you have a portfolio level backtester, test your strategy with % based risk. Use 1-2% risk per trade, though I use 1/2%. If you use an ATR based strategy, you will find that it grossly underestimates EOD market risk and that you will have hugely inflated positions relative to what the...

    Money Management

Using Kelly ratio for bet size is absurd for stocks and questionable for commodities. If your daytrading, you can use it, because risk is somewhat more controlled during the day. But its still very risky because of losing streaks. Your system can have 50/50% chance of winning over the long...

    Offshore Inc. for tax-avoidance trading?

Its a reality, I already have the system that makes 60% annually. This is a 100k account compounding while paying corporate tax of 18%. See you still get rich, just wait a while.

    Offshore Inc. for tax-avoidance trading?

Before anyone sets up offshore or wastes more time doing so, find out the corporate tax on securities in your country, and then make a spreadsheet. If you have a high return strategy and compound it you will get rich beyond your wildest dreams in a matter of 5 or 10 years, regardless of the...

    futures trend-following journal

Capital, Dunn will show you , but you need $10 million in the account. You might peruse collective2.com they might have some futures traders, though its probably all daytrading eminis. And the real risk of this stuff should have you running the other way. The only way might be finding a...

    Trading in Toronto Advice

definitely landboy. I already started applying via craigslist, monster.com, etc. Nothing yet though, I only started this month. I know the demand is definitely higher in NYC seeing how its the real financial capital of the equity world. Ive seen a total of 3 or 4 real trader jobs on...

    Trading in Toronto Advice

I have the same problem. 90% of daytraders fail. Get a job on a desk if you take the CSC and get lucky, or just look for jobs in NYC. Toronto is a joke to me. I dont think any real trading goes on here. And for what does go on, good luck getting in there.

anyone read Hedge Fund Masters by Ari Kiev

I have a couple of his books, trading to win being one of them. Basically trading is an athletic event so prepare for it. He also talks about how all his traders throw around big money ( millions and millions), like their are all existentially special for it. In all, Id say a waste of money...

    Coding the Turtle System

I have read the turtle rules ( available for free on the net ) numerous times and I have come to the conclusion that the system does not fly as it was written. One possibility is that they used a medicore entry -exit system and used pyramiding as a way to control risk. Perhaps my frustration...

    Managing Risk

traderguy, Ive backtested ATR and dollar based stops for equities in an End Of Day system, and a simple rule is best: no more than 5% of your account in one position. I do not mean risk no more than 5%, but no more than 5% as the whole position. Other methods Ive tried did not provide...

Which is the best mechanical trading system

The End, I had no idea, I thought they were on the up and up. Albeit, the FX systems seem too good to be true. 500% in 3 months, things like that. You can't possibly have risk management with that strategy. Could you tell me what type of system it was? PM me if you would rather do that. I am...

Which is the best mechanical trading system

azmi unless you wanted a trend following system that returns 20-30% annually and can handle equities, futures, fx, you wont find a system that works for equities and fx that gives the kinds of returns Im guessing that you probably think you can get out of a system. My suggestion for FX is...
