Can I open a brokerage account with Tradestation but not trade?

This is a good question and the truth is I'm not sure what I need from TS. I'm currently evaluating NinjaTrader & OpenQuant. So far I find NinjaTrader easier to use and I've been more productive with it. But I'm not sure if NinjaTrader provides everything that is provided with Tradestation...

Can I open a brokerage account with Tradestation but not trade?

No need to withdraw the money. If I'm saving around $50/month (the cost I estimate with eSignal - $99) then that's a 14% return on the 5k deposit. Not a bad deal. If their brokerage works out for me I wouldn't mind placing 10 trades but from what I hear it's a real dog and I'm better off at IB.

Can I open a brokerage account with Tradestation but not trade?

Just to get the $99/month price? Is it possible? It makes a lot more sense than paying $250/month.

    Considering TradeStation

I've heard these stories so many times.. I guess it's easy to think that it won't happen to me. I'm currently considering ninjatrader & openquant to use with IBD's free feed. Seems like a good compromise.

Which service for E-minis and backtesting (for a programmer)

I have heard of it before but didn't realize that it could do all of that (charting, automation, and backtesting). Works with IB Feed. and a free version without live data will let me play with it a bit. Overall this sounds like it could be a good alternative to eSignal & TradeStation. If I...

    Considering TradeStation

I just looked at the TS website again. $5k minimum for futures accounts. So can I just "park" $5k there and then pay $99/month for trade station? I also read you have to subscribe for data @ $55/month if you want real time. That kind of sucks. Now we're up to $150. Also, could I use...

Which service for E-minis and backtesting (for a programmer)

I work as an IT consultant and I'd like to make a move from the IT field to trading. I plan to work part time 2-3 days a week at IT and the rest at trading so that I can ease into it without needing the trading income to pay bills. I'm really lost with all the software. I currently have...

    Considering TradeStation

So do you just make 10 trades with TS and then the rest with IB? It seems like that'd be easy to do but you have your money split between two sites so you have to juggle that around.. From the website it seems if you don't make 10 trades then you pay $100. That wouldn't be so bad if it...

Debating on going from part time to full time

I'm hoping to get a bit of advice from others here who are more experienced than I am. I have been doing stocks based on the IBD method but I found that my mutual funds were doing better than I am. I have Matthews China which is doing great, 120% 1 year average. I've been in and out of mutual...
