QuoteTrader or NinjaTrader and do I need Ensign or Sierra?

I forgot to add that AmiBroker is also on my list of things to try.

QuoteTrader or NinjaTrader and do I need Ensign or Sierra?

From what I saw, which was limited to just a couple days of playing with OpenQuant, is that it's great for backtesting but not so good for real time trading. I don't remember if it has charting and watchlists, please let me know.

QuoteTrader or NinjaTrader and do I need Ensign or Sierra?

I do not believe so. For one, you can't name and save the market analyzer window. So the only way that I know is to save it as part of a workspace. If you have several market analyzers open you don't know which is which. Plus, something I really dislike about NinjaTrader is that you end up...

QuoteTrader or NinjaTrader and do I need Ensign or Sierra?

My quest continues. NinjaTrader doesn't have watchlists, so it's out for me. The same is said to be true of MultiCharts. Neoticker looks like it has everything but it's very expensive for me. I may end up buying it if I can't find anything else. I don't like the hardware activation...

Anyone using Briefing.com Platinum or Trader (premium)?

This is a great example, thanks for sharing. I am not that quick right now so it looks like maybe I should get the platinum. FCX corrected but then when up to 105, so there was at least a chance to get in on the action for those who didn't get the trader news.

Anyone using Briefing.com Platinum or Trader (premium)?

From what I see on their website, the advantage of the "trader" level is the calls. " Specific Technical Trading Set-Ups with Entry/Exit Points" I'm wondering if their calls are worthwhile. I figure since they have access to the news, they should be in a better position to make calls right?

Looking for online watchlist with alerts

I just saw an ad for IBD's Alerts Plus. I think this is what I'm looking for. Only downside is it's $40/month. http://www.investors.com/subscribe/ibdalerts.asp?rd=fl&src=A852APL if anyone has any other ideas please let me know.

Looking for online watchlist with alerts

I'm looking for a way to set up a watchlist with alerts. I am currently using Fidelity but the alerts are pretty limited (no volume for example). I'm also using QuoteTracker but I have over 100 symbols (IB limit) and also it seems that I only get alerts when the portfolio is active. I like to...

    Iterative Refinement

I did a papertrade on RWT today and got stopped out. fortunately I had a tight stop. For those who are doing equities, would you be interested in a chat during the market hours? We could point out stuff and discuss it while it's happening. I haven't done this before but I think it'd be fun...

    Iterative Refinement

Spydey - I'm reading the old journals as fast as I can while at the same time observing the stocks on the DU list. But I understand that a lot of my questions could have already been asked and answered in the journal entries. So as you suggest, until I finish the journals I will not as any...

    Iterative Refinement

Quick question on equities: If the low band volume is met by 10h30 (or even DU by 11h30) and the price is +5%, do you buy? I remember seeing a criteria that if the gap is more than 5% then there is no buy signal, but I understood that to mean the opening gap. I ask because for two days...

    Iterative Refinement

If anyone has automated the equities trading I'd love to hear your experiences. I'm at working during the morning session. So far I have quotetracker set up on my pc at home with my watchlist and alerts on volume and then a paintbar alert on macd & stoch. The problem is the two aren't...

    Iterative Refinement

I had a few observations today. I got a few buy triggers (VSR & GIGM) in that they had low band volume by 11am and the macd & stoch criteria was met. I ended up selling both because they didn't get FRV by EOD. I also bought POZN but that was a mistake, I forgot to check the stoch & macd (I...

    Programmable real-time market scanner

We have slightly different requirements. I need scanning on my watchlist (about 20 stocks). I do EOD scans to make my watchlist. If you want realtime scans of the universe then I haven't found a solution. I've found EOD that do everything I want (stockfetcher for example) and I've found...

Real-time scanner & alerts based on indicators

Thanks for the warning. My main criteria is volume and usually when volume moves it moves fast so this could be an issue. I set up basic volume alerts and will see how they do tomorrow. I'll try the paintbar alerts next. In the mean time, I'm still open to suggestions. Something like...

    Iterative Refinement

I'm towards the beginning of the second journal and I'd like to start testing out the method on equities. Last week I was just observing, a few of the stocks on the watch list went up 7% thursday & friday. So now I'd like to try with a small amount of money (that I can afford to lose). I...

Real-time scanner & alerts based on indicators

I wouldn't mind paying $100 if one application did it all but from what I see each application has its specialty. And we need to subscribe to several to get everything. That's what makes all this so much fun! (sarcasm). I found out that QuoteTracker will do it. The alerts that I thought...

    Getting started in Forex

At the moment I'm lucky in that the lunchtime deadzone in the US occurs during our dinnertime here in France. :) I think I will be luckier if I manage to be success at changing from US equities to Euro futures and stop trading before dinner. My wife would like that. Thanks for the pointer...

Real-time scanner & alerts based on indicators

I'm looking for a real-time scanner capable of sending email alerts so that I can get them while at work and place a trade via the web. My main criteria is that I can specify the criteria. I was going to go with trade-ideas but I haven't found a way to put indicators such as MACD or...
