I agree that divergences can be very useful, and would suggest to those who have given up on them to try again :) The way I use them is to time or confirm entries in markets that are trending, but not too strongly. The technique of using double, simultaneous divergence of the Stochastics...

Still, the retail trader is able to use several well understood methodologies (e.g., spreads, straddles/strangles, butterflies, etc) and target a decent return while risking very little. Not to mention the benefits of (delta/gamma) neutral strategies. Options trading is full of opportunities...

I understand that there are people who like this tool and others who don't. That's OK, it's a free market. Now, at the risk of insulting the "nattering nabobs of negativity" :) out there, let me say that I myself, love it, because it has helped me trade well and make $$ for many months.

I second Trapper's suggestion.

What I'm always trying to do is minimize my effort to perceive, analyze, understand, and focus on learning how to react without too much mind work getting in the way. Like Karate, wine tasting, love making: stop thinking and take action out of your heart and belly, not your brain :)

And like a real Zen Koan, despite straining our mind, we never know which story is honest on this board. :)
