    SPX Historical Spread Plays

What would be the effect of using a bull calendar spread instead? Anybody?

direct statistical trading a "clearly" defined approach by NTW31

I've been testing the original idea in the first part of this thread. First i set it up in Excel on OHLC data and got positive results consistently. Then i set it up for tick data in MT4 and get random results. So i'm beginning to examine the data closer (debug) to find out why. So far, it...

Policy makers trying to come up with a way for states to declare BANKRUPTCY!

Texas: Too big to fail? What if we allowed solvent states to buy up insolvent states? Would fewer, more efficient states be better?

    Statistical Question

A 86.6% win rate on a 1:4 risk/reward over 100 trades does not necessarily indicate a positive expectancy. If he has positive expectancy, the statistical probability of him winning the next trade remains exactly whatever the numerical expression of the positive expectancy is. It depends...

what is the best language that suits massive calculation on every tick?

In the days of QuickBasic, when speed was needed, a programmer could write routines in *assembly* and access them with Basic calls. MT4 does something similar with an ability to call DLL's. Have you researched this angle?

    New MetaTrader 5 for iPhone

Maybe they should call it MT2 or something. :) I'm guessing an EA could be implemented without a chart, if MetaQuotes wanted to. An indicator, on the other hand...

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

I'm going to guess that because an adaptive EA would be laborious, they are least likely to be found to be given away online. I can envision three or four types of adaptive EA: 1.) One that looks at it's own history and changes certain parameters to better (hopefully) predict how the EA...

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

Yes, for promotional purposes, a demo account might be rigged to treat a trader better than what they would be on a live account, or an account above/below x dollars. I'm reminded of an online casino that was tested by some expert(s) that was letting people win during test (play money) mode...

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

I had a zulutrade demo account, which lasts for a month, just expire. I never tested it, thinking only an automatable platform is a valid test for me. Had my latest (first) MT4 EA test panned out, i might have tested it manually on zulu. But the test (of the idea) is suggesting a major fail...

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

That would be my first course of action; to test what's readily available and modify, if that would help (without too much curve fit). I have a collection of EA's and am just now beginning to iterate through them as i learn the MT4 platform and language. Sometimes people just offer ideas...

Why I prefer EA's to Manual Trading

I like the idea of automation for the same sort of reason you do. And i would prefer to do it myself and cut out the middleman. But following a trader through a PAMM account is also an appealing idea, as well as diversifying among a set of managers. I am reminded of a book i read by Gary...
