IB SMART router is screwing up ETF orders

IB’s SMART router is treating many ETF’s as if they were listed on the AMEX when they are not. This has happened to my orders more than once. For example I had an order to buy EWM pre-open re-route at 13.49 submitted hours before the market open. Even though EWM is listed on ARCA, SMART...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

My account was credited for an amount that is in the right ballpark to make up for the NYSE overcharges. I checked add liquidity, on the open, and on the close executions for 11/28. They were correct. Everything appears to be working correctly. It's time to put this to bed.

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

Yes, I was charged the commission, but at least the charge (0/share) was correct for add & on the open orders. BTW, the charges were only wrong for orders that executed on the NYSE. The last time I looked, Arca orders that add liquidity for NYSE stocks get a credit of .0025/share. That's a...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

On 11/23 it looks like IB charged my account properly for adding liquidity but still charged .0008/share (not 0/share) for orders executing on the open. On 11/26 IB is charging my account correctly for orders executing on the open, but has now got adding liquidity wrong. But at least now...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

I've tried Ameritrade, Etrade, Brown, Fidelity and a host of other brokers and for my needs IB is far and away the best. None of the others offers IB's range of order types, solid but quirky API, and a great cost structure. I have found them very responsive to change requests. They have made...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

GTC is right. As I mentioned earlier, IB response times have become glacial, even for non-commission related issues. My next followup is planned for two weeks after my last. If the response to that is not satisfactory I will see if my sales rep can help. Their poor response time is not...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

I'm not at all surprised at your experience. What he told you about adding liquidity is just wrong. I'm working with the institutional support group. At least they know enough not to make up something when they don't know the answer. They have just been acting as a go-between me and someone...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

IB's response time has become glacial. Several months ago they would usually respond within 2-3 days. Now it is weeks. I posted a ticked on Oct 2 complaining that they were using the old NYSE fees on Oct 1. That ticket has never been replied to. I suspect that you will need to call if you...

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

I like IB. I just think they are handling this badly. I am also puzzled at how little interest this is generating.

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

That's my point. Since IB is charging me the wrong NYSE fee, they are almost certainly charging everyone the wrong fees. I brought this to their attention two weeks ago and they have barely conceded the point. A proper response would have been to address each of my overcharging issues item by...

trade at the opening price on amex ETF

There isn't a primary exchange for all etfs. They are just like stocks. Some are listed on the NYSE, AMEX, NASDAQ, ARCA, etc.

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

    Yes, you have been charged the NYSE take fee. My calc matches yours: Ib Comm 200 * 0.0035 = 0.70 DtcFee 200 * 0.0002 = 0.04 SecFee = 0.17 nyse add Fee 200 * 0 = 0.00 sell 200 aav nyse add CalculatedComm=0.91 0.0046/share Difference: Actual(1.07) - Calc(0.91) = 0.16 0.00080/share

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

Not that there seems to be much interest, but IB has agreed that "There was an error in the commission. We are in the processing on writing a script to identify the trades and calculate the adjustment. " Meanwhile the wrong NYSE fee charges continue.

IB unbundled NYSE fees are wrong starting 10/1/07

I believe IB has been charging my account incorrect exchange fees. On Oct 1 the NYSE changed their fee schedule (http://www.nyse.com/pdfs/2007pricelist.pdf) as follows: Equity Transactions: Take liquidity: .0008/share Add liquidity: No Charge At the opening or at the opening...

IB Market at Close (MOC) orders

I do MOC and LOC orders regularly for NYSE and NASDAQ stocks through IB. I've always received the closing cross price.

    IB order didn't execute

This has not been my experience with both Ameritrade and Fidelity. I have gotten fills days later on missed executions for orders that were opening trades without first entering a closing order. In practice this means I've gotten a free shot since they only give me a fill when it's in my...

IB SMART’s black hole or “where is my order”

Jimrockford, I agree with you completely. That’s how I approach my software. I try to fix problems as soon as I notice them, before they can cause a serious problem. But trying to persuade a third party to investigate and fix what you see as a problem is much more difficult, especially...

IB SMART’s black hole or “where is my order”

I have noticed “where is my order” twice. I am not certain if it is a SMART problem or an exchange problem, although it appears to be SMART. Basically my limit orders are not always being reflected or executing when they should be. At some point minutes later they magically appear. These...

    IB Problem?

I believe IB. They haven't given me any reason to distrust them. I'd get worried if they continued to experience data outages and my quote vendor did not.

    IB Problem?

As I predicted, when I asked for an explanation as to why my quote vendor’s quotes continued to work while theirs did not IB responded “At that time, NASDQ announced that they were having data feed issues with certain vendors. IB was among them.” I’ll start another thread on this...
