Well, I just wait to enter until the resistance points are much closer. My mantra is "don't mess around in the middle"--i.e., enter on bounces from (or breaks through) clear S/R.

NoDoji, when you are in a trade where you haven't moved your initial stop, how do you exit? I.e., limit order or market order?

Looks like it really wants to break for more upness pretty soon.

Yeah, I've been manually trailing my stop and exiting only when my stop is hit. Which causes me to catch the big movers but leave alot on the table when the next S/R level actually holds. So, I'm doing a lot of thinking here. This will probably be easier once I'm trading more than one...

I'm a complete noob so take this with a grain of salt--but when I look over my day I very often see places where I would have had a profitable trade if I had put on a larger stop and not moved the damn thing. I see this over and over and over. Limiting your initial risk really just ends up...

Looks like I'll get a second chance to short from 10.80ish today . . .

Moved stop to 103.32 for mental health reasons (figured I'd book a little profit--after some more experience I'll let 'er roll). And . . . just filled at 103.35 for 18 ticks. Guess we'll see in the morning if accepting the banker's offer was a good deal or not (god what a stupid show).

Ah, the ol' "pics or it didn't happen," eh? Well, I don't know how to do a screenshot (and you didn't post one either, so we're even). :)

Alright, trying something new here (I've been trading since Feb 1, 2011, so really everything is new, but I digress). I wanted to short last night based on the daily chart but didn't see a good spot. Tonight I did--so I'm short from 103.53 (at 9:08 central) (sorry, probably violating a...

    CL Redux

Yeah, that's the bitch of it--the move I was stalking all day happened and I wasn't on board. Another major issue is that I'm daytrading while also working as a lawyer. Which is probably a stupid-ass thing to do. I have to pass up positions sometimes because I have a call or someone walks...

    CL Redux

Well, I noobed this one right up the kiester. Around 12:52 central, I had a limit sell on at 104.85, but then I took it off as it got further away (thought maybe there'd be a snap-back to make a new high--I generally don't like taking positions outside of clear S/R, and we were technically...

I'd like a pop to 104.80, where I can short and leave it on overnight (hopefully making 200 points while sleeping). ETA: OK, reassessing now (been doing that a lot today. . . ).

    CL Redux

Eh . . . I see a descending triangle since about 9:40 central this morning. YMMV of course. And . . . just broke down--I had removed my sell stop at 104.44, want to reassess a bit.

So which way is this big-ass wedge breaking? I've been waiting to short at 104.44 or so for a while now . . .

So, my patent-pending Kamikaze Pivot Scalping Method has been working like a charm. I just take a position (long or short, doesn't matter) in the middle of the soup (for the last hour, 106.02) and then exit on the shiny side. I don't see how anything could possibly go wrong. :D

Loch ness monster pattern on 1 minute with TL from 100.76 to 101.12 . . . :) Buy the tail, add at the front legs, sell the head, easy peasy.

Wow. This is probably the best trading-related thing I've read on the internet. Thank you.

Then you lose. It happens sometimes. :) But this strategy would have been good for 24 ticks or so a few minutes ago.

I'm talking about using a stop order for entry. I.e., you could band the congestion zone with a buy stop and sell stop, then when you get filled, move the other stop up to whatever makes you comfortable as a stop-loss.
