For the Mini's does volume matter?

Take it for what it is worth: it's these markets near or at ATH. Wait until we are below ATH, you may see it work better for you.

S&P Goes Longest Without A 5% Pullback In 20 Years As NFLX Leads Nasdaq To Record Highs

or we finally get some sort of event that wasn't on anybody's radar, then you get one freaking huge monthly bar down on huge volume after gap down. These markets nowadays are prone to flash crashes, so it is up up up until it goes down so fast that you won't even catch that trade...

Good books on trading stock index futures

...only to find out that most these people made money in different markets and quit trading or would never be able to make money in the markets nowadays. It's like claiming that pit traders would be only ones that you should listen to when it comes to trading... It is very hard to extract money...

Good books on trading stock index futures

Al Brooks' book (I read the 3 volume edition) is a very intelligent book about the trading. At times it is very hard to read, but it covers most of the aspects of trading. I don't know why others like the book, I'm afraid that some people look too much for ready setups and Al Brooks provides...

Good books on trading stock index futures

I agree with that. You need to learn the instrument you want to trade, how it behaves, how it moves. That's why it may be too hard or impossible to trade many markets. For the last 10 months I have been watching (and trading) ES daily for hours and learned a lot. And there is much more to learn...

Can Netflix Hold the 20pt Move?

I don't trade stocks so I don't follow them but in regards to your "strong subscriber growth" comment... I've read that all their money goes into shows/programs and that they won't be cash flow positive (or was it about profitability) for years to come! Some food for thought... It may rally...

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

If I were a great example to follow I wouldn't be hanging out much around here. I gave an example: in ES go for 10-12pt a MONTH (not even a week!) on 2 lots per $10k in your account and there's your 10% a month. The problem with "taking only best setups" is that no one wants to wait for "best"...

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

just some food for thought: couldn't OP be a someone that just retired, has extra $100k capital that he/she wants to deploy, always thought about the trading but first wonders what kind of ROC can be expected realistically from daily trading once you learn how to trade and do it right? Finding...

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

could you be more specific? seems like everybody is jumping on to almost criticize OP, knowing what OP's definition of small capital is... while that was not the point of his post. Where are the specifics? Am I missing something here besides the fact that many don't understand why is his...

By reading from OP's statements something he has never said, it is clear you didn't get it. I was simply disagreeing with you. Seems you're not content with someone pointing that out to you.

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

So feel free to contribute by giving specific examples. Don't expect OP to tell you exactly what kind of capital he has or his experience level. Consider him someone that would like to venture into trading but first he asking about conflicting statements he read. I guess that is much better...

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

He was clear to state why is he asking that question. But I guess you don't get it. Perhaps you could be more helpful to the OP by stating clearly what is your opinion on: 1. What size of capital is needed 2. for What size of returns instead of "assuming" what he considers small. I don't know...

I guess you have a patent on what "small account" means exactly.

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

You should re-read his post and not jump into conclusion what he intends to do. He's simply trying to verify the two "ideologies" often presented around. I think he is right to do so. If the definitive answer to that was that one can't even make 10% actively trading, OP could use that...

    %10-40 a month with a small acccount.

Scataphagos, I think you missed part of OP's question: While he asks "hypothetical" question it doesn't sound like he wants to gamble. This is a valid question. I'm not judging him whether he is rookie or not. He pointed out to the ongoing discussion not only here but everywhere, about what...

    The S&P 500 has topped at 2430 on 6/1/17

there are lots of negative comments toward Volante how stupid it is to short this market, but frankly the only ones that should post comments like that should be the swing traders and they should also post their entries like Volante does. If you are day trader then calling his entries stupid is...

Me neither. Whether you are using leveraged instruments or using margin/borrowed funds (that cost you) it always ends up as some Return on your Capital. OP asks hypothetical questions and IMO the answer is yes, it is possible. Consider trading ES with $10k account, trading 2 lots at a time a...

Averaging down in day trading - when to take a loss?

in the example given earlier I made a mistake so just to clarify: 1st entry 1 lot and scale-in 2 lots at -4pt with a hard stop another 2pts away for total risk 10pts on 3 lots, or 1st entry 1 lot and scale-in 1 lot at -5pts with a hard stop another 2.5pts away for the total risk of 10pts on 2...

Averaging down in day trading - when to take a loss?

You have raised many valid issues that I have been dealing with on my own. Let me add my $0.02 to that discussion to share my own experience. Let's start with the basics, because w/o them this discussion is going one way street of "never average down", (which is so true). What is "scaling-in"...

Options Noob... 1st 100 trades completed

Since I know little about options I'm not going to pretend that I know what you are talking about. But in regards to your "probable maximum risk" let me remind you just one word: LTCM. If you're playing it super safe, then what is the potential for profit? Somehow selling options reminds me of...
