    Iterative Refinement

Very nice analysis romanus. IMO, there are other ways to understand what transpired but yours is particularly clean and anticipatory. A question about spike bars for you or anybody else. Is a doji (neutral, dragon fly or tombstone) a spike bar? Are there other things like the volatility...

? FTT of an up fftraverse (start it @ 17:10). The one before it (starting @ 16:35) looks pretty much (though not exactly) the same. lj

    Iterative Refinement

Quote from R/R: 04-05-09 12:40 PM Quote from ljyoung: You are answering the question of why those two constructs on the left are traverses by saying, "... because they have to be. 1. I made no attempt to answer that question and if you re-read my post perhaps you will see my point...

    Iterative Refinement

You are answering the question of why those two constructs on the left are traverses by saying, "... because they have to be. The thick red channel line says so." Most people know that to be so. Down-up-down traverse sequence for a downchannel and the opposite for an upchannel. Correct...

    Iterative Refinement

Say R/R, it's great to have some dialogue about this stuff. I will get back to you but today is freakin' income tax prep day which inevitably takes longer than what one might think or would want to think. lj

    Iterative Refinement

Unless you elaborate dkm it will not be possible to determine if what you say is true and if you interpreted what I said correctly. These things may or may not be important to you, I don't know, but would appreciate hearing what you have to say. lj

    Iterative Refinement

One more thing ezzy. R/R's statement from his most recent post sums things up succinctly: Judging from Spyder's charts these are probably FF. He has said a FF traverse lacks something required of the 5 min Traverse. Once my traverse has the obvious attributes of a 5 min Traverse like x2x...

Ezzy, Here's something from romanus: http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&postid=2342372&highlight=P2#post2342372 lj Forgot to say that my definition of pace is exactly the same as yours. No inventions.

    Iterative Refinement

Hi NYCMB, You no doubt noticed that I weaseled out of designating the downtraverse you mentioned as being standard vs fftraverse. You will also notice that from the replies to your question that this differentiation can be tricky. R/R sums things up nicely and taking things a step further...

    Iterative Refinement

That's most clarifying R/R and if I'm not mistaken could be seen as a variation on the theme of "a traverse ftt must have a tape ftt associated with it." Very helpful. lj Edit: The above statement I'm sure of and let me remove and rethink the comment about this not being a standard traverse.

    Iterative Refinement

R/R, When you have a moment could explain what you mean by "... completes in phase". I see clearly the ff nature of your construct but am not clear about the "phase" thingy. In other words, in phase with what and what is the particular significance of this with respect to innersky's query...

    Iterative Refinement

Yes you are correct R/R that it was never an IBGS. I did not do my chart real time today and misread what was there. Double-doh! The OB will be a 're-set' bar and then you will fan out twice before getting the tape break down. It is interesting, but possibly coincidental, that if you treat...

    Iterative Refinement

Hey R/R, if you're hanging around, a question. Would the 15:35 IBGS be an example of where you don't fan an IBGS with increased volume? So basically it's like a 'tape FBO'? lj Note to innersky. An IBGS will break a lateral if: (1) it pierces one of the borders of the lateral and (2)...

    Iterative Refinement

Thanks for your input palinuro. Correct that a spike bar has other important attributes, including context. Very true also what you say about 'move-ending' configurations but what I'm thinking is that again, in context, there are combinations of pace, volatility and price velocity which can...

    Iterative Refinement

What I was thinking was based on Spyder's comments in that link and as well on random bits and pieces I've read in the various threads. The general notion is that a slowing in price velocity can alert one to anticipate change. Context is crucial but an example would be a spike bar. lj

    Iterative Refinement

Thanks nkhoi but I didn't want to use it as an indicator in the sense of plotting it out on a chart. It is something both Jack and Spyder have talked about and I just wondered what people thought about measuring it the way I described. Here's a Spyder post from last fall talking about it...

    Iterative Refinement

Does anyone see a problem with using the following measurement for price velocity. dP/dt = the price change from open to close for a bar within a given time interval. So for ES one could say that if price went from 784 (O) to 785 (C) in 5 min, then the velocity was 1 point/5 min. You could...
