I use automated systems for equities and futures trading. I use TS for prototyping only. When it comes to total automation, TS leaves a lot to be desired. All of my system are written using C++.
Java and C++ is the language of choice when it comes to black box trading.
There maybe a significant number of TS trader who would want to trade through Bright for the leverage. It seem to me that the company who would want to develop such an interface would be Bright:D
Since TS is a Broker Dealer themselves, I doubt that they will want to development an interface with Goldman (but they may). TS provide a SDK (Software Development Kit) that will allow you to interface with almost anything
I traded with Bright using an automatic execution system based on TS with a RedI interface. This was several years ago and the API and TS has changed, but it is doable. (It maybe even easier now).
I am thinking of joining EchoTrade . Can any one give me a feel for commission rates, available leverage, and haircut for a $25K+ account. I would like to know what to expect from a negotiation point before I talk to them.
Thanks
The reality of the situation gentlemen is that data feeds (and other systems) go down and as an active trader you have be prepared for it. I prepare by integrating DTN and TWS. I have never seen a situation where they are both down at the same time. (I also have cable backup by DSL.) If I need...

I DayTrade, using a totally automated multiple strategy systems that change based on 5 to 10 day walkforward analysis. I trade electronic futures on CME and CBOT. I have not had a losing month since I began three year ago. I know another trader with an automated system with similar results...
Def and Others:
We have use and tested numerous other brokers and in our opinion IB is still among the best if not the best over all, including reliability. However, they are now in the high end when it come to commission for Futures particular for high volume traders. As a consequence I use IB...
I have Business Cable and DSL combined using as Duel WAN Router. Using this combination I've never been down (two years) because of an ISP. I also have software that auto detect If IB is down and they've been down alot recently.
Its technically possible that IB is playing a game with their users. They seem to have the worst trouble when the market move in an unexpected direction. Maybe against there position????
We do unattended day and position trading. We use extended UPS systems. We also use software that allows the system to send messages if there is a problem to which we can monitor and respond to remotely.
Words from a successful optimizer:
1. minimize the number of variable(KSS)
2. very the length of the in-sample date
3. always walkforward realistically
