    Re-Inflate the Housing Bubble?

What is to prevent the Fed (with possible help from Congress to pass any necessary laws) from offering to be the lendor that allows anyone who wants to refinance their house to do so at say 1% interest? Wouldn't doing something like this allow the housing bubble to re-inflate, putting us back...

    Oil Plummets on Economy Worries??????????

While the weak dollar has no doubt had some effect on oil prices, it can only explain a small percent of the rise. US dollar index was at 78 6 months ago, now it is at 72. That's less than an 8% decline over the same 6-month period where oil is up 60%.

    U.S. Economy no longer #1

According to the CIA World Factbook, the European Union has a population of 500 million. US has 300 million. So while the size of the two economies is now about the same, on a per-capita basis the US is still far ahead.

    each market low-bernanke comes in

I think he is defending 20% off the peak of the dow, which would be an official bear market. He probably feels we have enough other problems without having to contend with a bear market on top of everything else. As it stands, we just have a "correction".

Someone on Bloomberg said Fed was going to cap oil

I seem to recall Nixon having a price freeze in effect for certain things at one time. Economic laws say that a price freeze, if enforced, will lead to shortages.

    Bearish Divergence in Gasoline

On February 19, April oil closed at 95. April gasoline closed at 273. On March 11th, April oil closed at 108, up 14% since February 19. Gasoline on the other hand closed at 271, actually down slightly since February 19th. Why? Does this divergence signal an end (at least...

I have a sure-fire way to bring gasoline back down to $1.50...

Well at around $3 a gallon, thats 75 cents or so a quart. Some people pay more than this for bottled water. In UK, petrol is over a pound per liter which (at current exchange rates) is $8 a gallon. While no one is glad to pay more and more for gasoline, gasoline is still a small amount of...

How Much Stop Slippage is Typical?

Agreed, but my question is this. Suppose a "good trader" sets a 50 cent stop. When the stop actually gets hit, how much more than 50 cents, on average, can they expect to lose? I have never traded crude oil (well actually I did, back in 1996, but the market is totally different now). I'm...

    Forex Account vs Futures Account

Thanks for the links, Cabletrader. The 2nd one especially is helpful. On the 2nd link, I think the only exhibit that really bothers me is what could happen to the money in my account if the firm itself goes under. That is definitely a consideration, and reason to keep the minimum account...

    Forex Account vs Futures Account

I have been trading Forex on and off for about 4 years now. When I've mentioned this to some people who actively trade in markets other than stocks, several times I've gotten the reaction "Why would you want to trade Forex?". When I say to speculate on currency trends, they say "You could do...

How Much Stop Slippage is Typical?

I keep seeing recommendations like the following (this one from a recent public recommendation on Alaron's web site): Buy April crude at 10185 - stop 10085. Logically, the risk on the trade is $1000. But in a fast-moving market such as oil, it would seem to me that the price is going to...
