The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

Well, there are also technical signs: low volatility, prices following a straight line, low volumes. But none tells when.If it starts to fall, you cannot tell for sure:it can look like a correction.I don't believe there are methods which can tell when a move has begun (I believe there are individuals...

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

Here is how I see it: I cannot find any real solution being put on in any country with debt problems (US,UK,Japan,EU). Maybe the only useful thing I saw to solve the debt problem is stealing money from current accounts in Cyprus, but that's not enough,Cyprus is too small, and there are other...

Best Country for Trading (Tax efficiency)

In Malta they do not tax capital gains generated abroad, even if they are remitted to Malta. Who says they are not foreign sourced? If your broker is outside of Malta and the exchanges are not in Malta, how can you say the gain is not foreign sourced? I asked directly people from the inland...

Financial transactions tax ok'd in Europe

As I said before,Germany will put FTT on in 2016.So I think it's no use discussing about Eurex dead.

Financial transactions tax ok'd in Europe

I don't think it will impact forex.Anyway, they still have to implement it.As far as I know, only France and Italy have introduced it. Germany said it could wait till 2016.They understood it's a dumb suicide.

Financial transactions tax ok'd in Europe

This is the financial world joking normal people and no-global. In France it's applied only to liquid shares (derivatives left out). In Italy it's applied to liquid shares, and it seems that it will be paid ONLY on overnight positions. So intraday trading is left out. This is the real joke...

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

I think a logaritmic chart would be more appropriate for a currency that changed so much. Can someone post the same chart in a logarithmic scale?

Fading Yen - It has gone parabolic

I believe yen is sensitive to risk and carry trades.Notice that yen began its drop when europe risk seemed to go away (one month before S&P raising Greece rating by 6 degrees,ECB accepting southern bonds again as collateral). What if risk appears again? As to carry trades, yen has been for...

    Real Estate boom of 2013

Sorry if it is too simple,but... couldn't they be speculating on FED action started with buying MBS? It's pushing prices up now, maybe Blackrock thinks or knows that FED will continue helping housing market so it will rise in the next 5 years.

IB TWS taking a lot of memory

Braincell, I've been with IB for ten years (I operate almost every day),and I used the gateway as soon as I could. I've always used the oldest possible versions of their software, and while there were problems with TWS (mainly with charts), I had only 1 problem with gateway: it sometimes...

IB TWS taking a lot of memory

I'm quite surprised,I never had the kind of problems mentioned here. - Braincell, do you really have more problems with gateway than with tws workststion?Which problems?I never had problems with either, though tws was slower and introduced more latency than gateway. - Bob111, when you minimize...

IB TWS taking a lot of memory

I'm using version 917.9 wth no problem,I believe it's the oldest allowed version. I use IB Gateway, it takes 100-120MB. You can use it,with a front end you build yourself,or a pre-built one.

    Eagle Market Makers?

Thanks nazzdack (why not "nazzduck"? It's nicer in my opinion). So you say they are good people.I was a bit afraid of exchange notifications they received, and arbitration cases (see NFA BASIC search). Any thoughts about that?

    Eagle Market Makers?

A lot of time has passed, but I'd still like to know something about this firm. In the FCM data file I read that they have a good excess capital, but only a 1 million $ in customers assets?

    Altera or Xilinx

I really see no reason why a single trader should need FPGA for his/her trading, unless all world exchanges (futures, options, forx,OTC derivatives....) are connected at the same time to elaborate a trading system on times and sales data, or to backtest a strategy based on all tick data available...

    Lowest commissions futures broker?

You can also try Zumo, a division of Ironbeam. They have $0.50 commissions (so a round-trip with ES is $3.32) and they give you Firetip for free if you leave in the account at least $15000.

    Anyone coding in Assembler?

My point is that performance depends on efficiency of "predefined blocks" like memory copy and other system tasks like GUI interface. When you talk about the use of "raw" language, VB6 is really not bad, I decompiled some code and it was better than I thought. Doesn't compare with Intel C++...

    Anyone coding in Assembler?

I quickly read this long thread, don't know whether I'm repeating points from someone else. When programming complex systems like nowadays computers, you never know the outcome of a particular way of programming until you test. And testing shows that often, ways that look cumbersome produce the...

    Interactive Brokers - Please help!

5000$ for 2 ES? I don't know who you are and how you trade, and don't know much about trading styles different from mine, but... 1) I'm not sure 10000$ would suffice for trading 1 ES my way 2) I'd suppose that trading 2 ES with 5000$ would require tight stops -> a lot of trades -> a small...

    IB Futures Marks

I can tell that for what I have seen IB uses its own value at first, then rectifies it after some time. So, when the exchange closes, you will see a closing value, but some hours after you'll see another.
