IB TWS taking a lot of memory

I don't know, but I can tell that every time I tried a newer version of Gateway, its performance was the same or worse(increased memory consumption and latency),without interesting capabilities added. In particular,I found no Gateway version after 917.9 which gave me any advantage. As to the...

IB TWS taking a lot of memory

current minimum tws version imposed by ib has been for a long time 917.9.I'd advise to use this version (I'm still successfully using it) and use gateway instead of tws, because it not only reduces memory usage, but also latency(I've measured it against tws latency). IB changes minimum version...

IB TWS taking a lot of memory

does Multicharts impose a minimum version for TWS? I'm using 917.9 and my API complies with API 9.65, and I don't have any problem. I suppose you are using the Gateway and not the whole TWS.So,why did you upgrade to 933?Is there any benefit?

    Any shorts left?

(maybe I'm a bit off-topic,sorry) ... For example, the rich, smart and successful Warren Buffet has an opposite idea, and I certainly don't want to say that my ideas are better than his. But some time ago he said: "Now we don't need QE anymore" Now he says: "It would be great if Bernanke...

    Any shorts left?

no need for excuses,my point is that I try to argue something objective, keeping away my ideas which are subjective. That is in order to avoid useless and endless wars based on "prices are high", "no, prices are not high, can be higher", "FED is doing good","no,FED is doing bad"... But here is...

    Any shorts left?

When someone replies to something I wrote,it seems that they infer a lot of things I didn't talk about. I was NOT talking about how the market is or what I think the market is,if it is coherent with economy,if a small account can move the markets.I was just examining that investor's...

    Any shorts left?

I don't understand. If he acknowledged a lot of "bear" cases, how can he be "as bullish as could be"?I would expect him to be something like "a bit bullish". "The only place to go is into equities": which equities?those from countries with debt problems? And how about: - emerging countries...

    Today is the day

You are talking about trading,it's another matter. The call in itself was correct until today when new highs were made. How/If you can use it in your trading to make money,it's a different subject. As we all know, trading can be profitable without calling highs and lows, and it can be...

    Today is the day

yesterday the sp index new record was widely advertised.but no future (sp,dow, nasdaq, russel) made any new high. so would you say that tilt2 top call is still valid? I'd say yes.

Up 'til now,you were right from the start.SP topped when you started this thread. If it doesn't make new highs, your call was correct.

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

Me too rarely act upon future prediction, that's why I'm short though I think the market will rise.Though I'm NOT Nassim Taleb,he does a similar thing:when asked in 2009 where stock market would probably go,he replied "up",and he was buying puts.Maybe he estimated a greater expectancy on puts...

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

Fine, but there is a difference:volatility is still on the short side. So, long is riskier than short. Those who say now "don't fight the trend" are just hurt from steady BUT SLOW rise.Maybe they didn't think how it would have been, had they been long with the market going down.Uncle Ben wanted them...

The girl is pretty, she is willing but there is a good chance that she is a V-Visitor and while making love will turn into a reptile and eat you up.You want to have sex with her while being careful so you get away before she turns into a monster.I say I cannot tell when she'll eat me up so I take...

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

ah,ah,"printing" is actually a complex procedure,I believe there is no actual printing but rather an electronic credit on accounts which buy bonds. The idea I have is connected to the Ponzi scheme: the number of new participants must grow exponentially to keep the system alive, and that is...

The bull run is over--- WSJ headlines

Question is: how long can US,UK and Japan go on printing? It's not immediately clear that they can't go on forever. FED balance can grow indefinetely, bonds will never go down because FED will keep on buying, markets will be continuously driven by these policies... Sure I don't like it,if...

    Installing TWS to Linux

I have always had no problems at all installing gateway and also tws in both windows and linux (any version, even damnsmall and puppy). The basic idea is that - you have a bunch of .jar files you place in a directory of your choice - you install java if you don't have it yet - you build a...
