What's your favorite trading quote of all time?

"Wer das kleine sehr ehrt ist das grosse nicht wert." Andre Kostolany (as far as I know)

    Annual profit to drawdown ratio

The MAR is CAGR / Max Total Equity Drawdown. The Calmar ratio is based on month-end to month-end max DD using total equity data. From the various gain-to-pain ratios I prefer the MAR and the Sortino ratio, also called modified Sharpe ratio.

    Fundamental Analysis

Thank you for your reply, Cutten. I am in this for the long run, so studying for years is fine with me. Speculation is permanent study anyway. What do you mean with "You also need a good understanding of economics as it relates to financial markets."? I know some economics but what do you...

    Fundamental Analysis

Large price moves spanning many months and sometimes years with substantial percentage increases or declines in price happen for fundamental reasons. The causes of such trends interest me and I wonder how one can become knowledgeable about the fundamental situation in a given market. I read...

Learning Wyckoff - Stock Market Institute Wyckoff Course - Books

I'm also still reading it. Just wanted to bring the book to your attention in case you didn't know it. I found the author interesting. An academic who considers predicting and timing based on technical analysis viable is still rather rare, as far as I know.

Thank you for taking the time to explain. Appreciate it.

Help with my trade management, see picture

Alright, see partly what you mean. But how would you go about finding a pocket of non-randomness and then determining how to exploit it other than through backtesting? Would be kind if you would explain.

Help with my trade management, see picture

Doesn't that mean you'd trade 8 systems? Each of the 1/8 exits could be backtested and would show a different result over a large number of trades. One of them would be best. Probably the last one.

    Price Action: Endless Waves

Good if it helps to trade successfully. Until there is a practical benefit from looking at price movements as either waves or noise it is just semantics. Elliott developed a theory of order in the waves which some seem to use successfully and others not, like many methods.

Help with my trade management, see picture

Why don't you find out what delivered the best result? Then decide if that is in line with your risk tolerance and if not then settle for less than the optimal result. In my own trading I find that cutting profits does exactly that so I prefer to let profitable trades run but what is right...

Anyone ever buy a REAL trading system???

In the mid 90s I purchased Aberration and used it with excellent results for a number of years. I was attracted to it by the honesty of the developer, Mr. Keith Fitschen. Back then he said he can't know and guarantee that the system would continue to perform well in the future but he guarantees...

    EUR/USD - Bearish move comming?

Germany reported the strongest quarterly growth in 12 years, everyone talks US recession but the Euro just flatlines. A mosaic piece to keep in mind.

Have you ever introduced yourself as an speculaor?

Reactions range from an occasional "wow" to indifference to badly hidden envy. I find that people don't view speculation that negatively. The most common comment is "That is too risky for me.". If I feel it is useful I explain to the person that it doesn't need to be so risky because one can...

An Interview with Top Trader Dan Zanger

This is quite doable if one knows what to look for, works with concentration and has the data locally stored, not loading charts from the web. If memory serves, he said his couple of hundred charts that he studies daily have grown to 1400 or 1500 charts. Reading his interviews is useful if...

What do you think of TradersStudio?

Hi, do you have a support forum similar to what TradingBlox has? The forum is for customers only and has become a highly useful resource over time. A specific place where support questions and answers can be found, also users helping users, without off-topic chatter.

    Help with QCharts Plz

I also can't see more history. I read that it is planned to make the history available again but I do not know when. The extensive historical intraday data was a very strong point of QCharts. Unfortunately was.

What to do after hitting daily goal?

I do not believe a daily goal is useful. It indicates distrust in one's methods and work. A "I got away with it" mentality. Imagine a doctor who successully treats a patient; will he stop for the day to avoid diagnostic or treatment errors with other patients? Or any other profession - will they...
