    Small Account

IMO, you will not get anything more with those $1000 + courses than you can get from the internet UNLESS you have a hard time learning for yourself. Some people need the instruction to make sense of things. If that is true, I still would not spend $1000s. Buy some books first.

Learning Options - Any good books or resources to recommend?

I subscribed to his old website Hard Right Edge about 20 years ago. I also read his Master of the Trade book. My personal opinion - he reeks of snake oil.

Why you should learn to code

Depends on your definition of junior programmer. My definition of a junior programmer is one with a computer science degree, or equivalent experience, who can get an entry level position in the industry. I still wouldn't hire him to implement my strategies. Can someone do functional...

    Winning $20 M Won't Make You Happy

You didn't take into account that Mexicans are Roman Catholic and most take their religion seriously. Suicide is a mortal sin to them. You can bear a LOT if your soul is on the line.

Economic Prosperity Has Never Been So Poor

It is really interesting to see socialists on this forum. If the left gets it way, there will be no retail trading.

    Newbie question

I bought 2 of echan's books. All the coding examples are in Matlab. Since Matlab is quite expensive I tried converting them to python. I couldn't quite duplicate his results.

    Newbie question

I think that is the big misconception about the industry. It is quite easy to get into a rut in this profession just as it is in others. If a programmer has been in the same company doing the same thing over and over he/she will never be "nuclear".

Why you should learn to code

If you are bound and determined to be a programmer/trader, learn from the trap I found myself in - I spent more time coding than learning to trade. Days upon days the market gave me opportunities and I spent that time coding. Programming is a VERY time consuming task, even if you get good at it.

Why you should learn to code

Not trying to discourage anyone, just stating what I see are the realities of starting from scratch. If you have the time and inclination then go for it. Most people I know think I am wasting my time learning to trade. But this is not only a dream, but a fun pursuit.

Why you should learn to code

Let me give you an example. Years ago the Globex went down for hours. If you were in a trade in an emini you were stuck unless you could hedge with a non-Globex equity. What does your program do now? Can it know the Globex is down?

Why you should learn to code

IMO getting good enough at programming where you put your money in the hands of a program takes YEARS. I personally won't do it. I program to backtest, write indicators, etc. But I will not turn over my hard earned money to it. Way too much can go wrong that you cannot anticipate and code for.

Why you should not learn to code

If you are looking to learn to code to automate trading, my advice - don't. It takes years to learn coding correctly, and it takes years learning to trade. Doing both at the same time will screw with your head.
