    Open.ai Chatbot - a personal programming tutor

50+ years in programming and information hasn't diffused enough to non-professional programmers that "AI writing code" is same old crap below:

The F*** Off Rule in Marketing

Mostly venting, yes. But also observation of my own journey in marketing my product. First had to develop some tough skin and come to terms with the fact that although I personally know how great my product is, most people just don't give a f*ck. That's level 1 (not buying). What took a bit...

Options example, what's the profit, 5% or 50% or zero?

This is not a good example because there's a lot of money being unused. You're not supposed to compute "return on capital" on "capital that's just laying around unused". I could have 1 million in my account, if I use 1 dollar and make 2, that's 100% return on capital, not 0,0001%.

Options example, what's the profit, 5% or 50% or zero?

Well exactly my question: how much is "X"? Depending how you look at it it can be $10 bucks, $110 bucks or even ... zero. The whole "arbitrage" concept is built around making money out of thin air: enter broke and exit wealthy. Otherwise said, borrow $110 bucks, make $115, return $110.5 or so...

Options example, what's the profit, 5% or 50% or zero?

Consider the following theoretical example: - stock price is around $100 - market price of put option on the stock is $10 - the true value of the put option is $15, so you consistently buy the option, delta-hedge using the stock and come out with an average profit of $5. Let's say these are...

The F*** Off Rule in Marketing

A thing to consider when marketing is feedback from "paying" vs "non-paying" customers. There is something of a cult of "feedback from customers", "customer is da king", "never do anything before asking the customer for feedback" in software engineering. Problem is there's two types of...

Silly thread: Alphabet (letters) pronunciation around the World

In Romanian, as in Italian, there's "CE / CI" and "CHE / CHI", I'm never 100% how to pronounce these in English, especially if it's the first time I encounter them. Most likely the Spanish version of "Se / Si" but it feels so unnatural to me I wanna scream:

    Wiping your a** properly

Interestingly, I got the idea for this post after watching a "wipe properly" reel on Instagram, so indeed, it might be some new trend.

    Wiping your a** properly

Half of this world (and the seemingly "advanced" one) is so retarded that they don't even know to wipe their ass properly. Like there's a saying "he's so retarded he wipes his ass backwards", this level of retarded. Literally. Wiping your ass is like: 1) Dipping your hands in Nutella. 2) Using...

Silly thread: Alphabet (letters) pronunciation around the World

Also. English doesn't have the sound "î" which Turkish and Slavic do. Your pronunciation of Kîrgîstan is hilariously far from how it actually sounds in their native language.

Silly thread: Alphabet (letters) pronunciation around the World

To start with: English is completely retarded as far as phonetics of the alphabet letters go. Literally, every. fucking. vowel. Is pronounced as another vowel. If there's a thing I refuse to bend over to is this: pronouncing A like E and so on. European languages are hardly better. There's a...

    Radio Free Europe

One thing, there's lots of melodies from the 80's that I totally resonate with as pure sound (as heard on the radio) but still happens this is the first time (after 40 years) that I see the video clip. Literally, I heard this on the radio 40 years ago, still gives me shivers:

What's the current interest rate for USD deposits?

OK guys, thanks for your answers. So it's for real, the rate has gone up to what used to be investment level of return (at least some of them).

What's the current interest rate for USD deposits?

When computing option prices one needs an "interest rate", which I usually take as zero, or rather the rate I would get for a savings account in US dollars. It used to be near-zero, right? But recently I saw I'm getting 3.5% for 1 year deposits at the local bank! Checking US deposit rates on...

Technical Smart vs Bussiness Smart in Programmers

This is a programmer rant, posting in "App Development" because here's where you find programmers on ET. In my 20 years of software development experience what I can say with certainty is that there's a very high inverse correlation between the level of "technical smart" of an implementation...

    Slavic pizza

Not bad :) Maybe some day I'll summon the courage to try making such thing. (Spoiler alert, I tried making the one at the top and came out like at bottom of the attached picture).

    Slavic pizza

And the name is... Another thing sustaining the local hypothesis is the name of this... thing. We call "panem" pane, "goulash" gulash, "çorba" ciorba, "zakuski" zacuscă, "sarma" sarmale and even "cebapi" can be recognized. But ... "mahmahligah" .. etimology unknown says the dictionary

    Slavic pizza

An aquired taste. Popular around these parts not long after corn made it's appearance in Europe and preceding pizza by a good 200 years, it contains as much saturated fat as that corn can absorb along with 5 types of diary derivatives involved, guaranteed diary..eea for the lactose intolerant :D

    I'm blowing too much money

And don't need to pay 5 grand to an expensive Italian consultant to get the same answer my friends were telling me already, only not in printed form with a bill attached: "IT'S YOUR WIFE!". I have a friend who did that (Italian consultant thing) actually, that's why I'm saying :)

    elder abuse ...

For €6 per month I get an Internet connection of 500Mbit on download and 250Mbit upload. And the installation was free. I actually pay for 2 landline connections from separate providers just for the occasion outage on one, I can quickly switch to second. And not have to use the 5G dreadful...
