AHG - Profitable Strategy for Struggling Traders

If you want to simulate during live trading you can get Interactive Brokers and use something like Bracket Trader or Ninja Trader. But you really just need the data. If you want to trade after the market you need to buy the data from Esignal or Ensign etc. Good luck.

Experienced trader feedback wanted - doubling positions when in a loss

Not a viable trading philosophy. What happens on the day that the market goes so far against him that he can't double down again? Risk Reward is all screwed up. Good traders are mostly humble and realize they can't do much better than 50-60% win/loss so the only way they can make good money is...

    ETF options taxes

Sorry if this is in the wrong place What are ETF Options classified at now (for tax reasons)? Robert Green at Green Company says its up in the air and could go either way. I can't find any decisive information though it seems to be leading towards being treated as a security and thus on the...

    Natty Gas

If you don't mind me asking PJK, I was wondering where you get the analysts expectations numbers from? I agree the markets bounce after the immediate tank was bullish.

Thanks PJK, Does anyone have a link to a good calendar for energy reports? I thought the report came out on Wednesday. How many frickin reports are there? :) Thanks again.

Nice call on the resistance. I'm still in. I'm probably biased (long) but the action seems to be shorts protecting and trying to stop us going through 8. Both times we've hit 7.90 and immediately sold off on huge volume. I'd more likely buy that as a top if we sat at 7.90 for a while and then...

Agreed. Thursday will be the tell. Can we push through 8? Or do we struggle and then bomb? COTs are bullish tho. Large spec are neutral.

Looks good to me - long. Huge volume jump on todays 80C pop. Nice and quiet in the news too. I like :)

    Beans in the teens

Thats why I don't trade solely on fundamentals. That was the same argument that everyone was using when beans were at 550. All I know is its going up.

    Beans in the teens

I was amazed that no one had posted here. Amazing day! I imagine a lot of people got shaken out by the drop just (barely) below recent lows. Still, it bounced back fast and I guess that tells you something about the demand. Sure was a nice way to wake up!

    Beans in the teens

Thanks. I can see what you are talking about. It stills looks like less than a 1.50 drop. Is that due to the continuous contract difference or were limits lower back then? Thats a weird chart. The volume really drops off on the spike up. I like to convince myself that IF I was in Beans at...

    Beans in the teens

When? 1989? http://futures.tradingcharts.com/hist_SB19913.html Are you thinking of a different year since I don't see any 1.50 move in 3 days. Even just looking at most Beans years, I only see an average of 2-3 lock moves in a full year. And none than are 3 in a row. For a lot of years...

Thanks a lot Jimmy Jam! I've read about Dennis is the Market Wizards book. Didn't realize the info was on the net!

    Pyramiding

The weakest area of my trading is my failure to utilize pyramiding. How do you guys use the strategy? I know that you supposed to add less contracts (compared to your opening position) as you pyramid but I have no idea how to analyze where to buy the additional positions. It seems some buy at...

IB TWS terrible for Mac Users

Jackson, I have a Mac book with the Intel chip and don't have the same problem. But I am using the standalone version. The only problem I have is if I load tons of charts. Then it will freeze, but only after like 4-5 hours. And since I've started using the new build yesterday, I've had no...

    Beans in the teens

Agreed, I wonder if we'll even close positive? Especially foreboding since there were so many positives today (oil, gold rally plus weather delaying harvest and rust). Additionally we have a lot resistance around highs from June/July. I think I'll wait for new highs to get back in.

    Beans in the teens

Well, Quite a lot of people have brokers who don't allow delivery so most of those have to roll over 3-4 business days before FND. Thats why the last three days of the Jan contract (at least ECBOT, thats all I watch) had such a jump in volume.

Quality of IB fills lately - stops

OK, thanks a lot guys for all your help, I really appreciate it. I heard back from IB and they said it probably had to do with my trigger method (just like you said). When I upgraded to the new build, I saw all the extra options so now I can tweak it as needed. I thinking of going with...

Quality of IB fills lately - stops

BTW, thanks for the link. I tried to change the trigger method based on the help page you posted. But my configuration page only has radio buttons for "default" or "last" when I bring up the trigger method page. I don't have all those options. Looks like I need to do some digging.

Quality of IB fills lately - stops

I think you are correct. For example, yesterday I was stopped out of GNBT at 1.94 (the low for the day - my stop was at 1.94) in my Ameritrade account. But IB did not stop me out. Another friend who had the same stop also got stopped out at 1.94 yesterday. What I'm wondering now is how to fix...
