I had the same question.
and HOW are you using mentioned indicators? divergence, crossover, some OTHER method? confirmation?
NOTE: I am not bashing, just trying to piece it all together..
so it looks like you have 2 TYPES of buy/sell criteria which evver happens first: the 5 minute...
Whne I was running OO's, I found this to be the case also..
It works great and you make good gradual $$$. then you get tattoed a few days in a week, and you lose confidence..
It pretty much happened twice. The fist time I just got hurt, plain and simple, and the second time, I had locked...
Sorry for the delayed response, but thanks to DB, Sulong, and Boomer for their input..
Now to my next question: Are these pivot points all calculated the exact same way, or are "proprietary pivots points" often used?
I am guessing the forumals arent tweaked that much...
Perhaps this is a stupid question, but had anyone used Pivot point with individual stocks?
I always though the importance of pivot points is that they were used by floor traders...
Can they be used for anytihng besdies the indexes?
I am not so sure about that. I am not sure about the performance of such black box VWAP systems, but as a former trader who has a lot of experience trading VWAPS, they are extremely time and attention consuming, and circumstances outside of your control (large delayed prints going up .50 away...
Splitting up orders into small lots and placing them in .02 (or small) increments discourages the SPEc. from sitting in front of your order. He can still pick a price range, but it makes it harder to make $$ off your flow and use it for protection..
Also you can feed him additional pieces...
this situation is a total fiasco, that was handled by Nasdaq in the worst fashion possible..
Their ineptitude in itself is enough reason for its downfall.
Because moderators exist for a reason, as do forum topics. There is to much immature bullshit floating around these boards, and it is gradually getting better due to the Mods.
down a little still learning. for me the monthly expenses and commissions are what are killing me. Not so much my decision making on trades...
I am not consistant enough to "up the share size" and get discounts on comm, platform fees etc...
I am about to turn the corner I think.
BINGO! The same way people invest in an education, many invest in social network to get ahead.
Think of the education as a "filter" that gets you the interview. Firms need something to filter appicants out, and a pedigree sure helps, whether it is right or not.
On average those taht...
Ron,
Just curious, why do you want to leave the current job. I am asking b/c I speak from expereince. I am an x-market maker for an IB and our firm was downsized and we were let go. I have been prop since, and it is very tough, andf nothing like I was doing even as a market maker... The...
my problem with the spec. is that HE DOESNT WANT YOU ON HIS SIDE. he wants you trick you so he can take the contra side and make $$.
Esp. these days, the spec. firms arent making as much, so the spec. is under more pressure to work an edge extra (retail flow) rather than just concentrate on...
true, but for every price imporved fill you get, you get another order being held up, or the spec. whipping the stock around to trigger stops..
you pay the piper either way.
for those of you who have made $$ using a system, on average, how long do they last for?
Since th market is always evolving, do they need to be overhauled every couple of months, or does it take years for a system to become obsolete?
Obviously, each person's mileage will vary, I am trying...
I am guessing, and that is all it is, a guess, that vito probably had too much on his plate...
Not that he did anything wrong, but running the company, trading, and teaching his training labs ALL AT ONCE is a lot to handle..
Don and the others,
When I ran opening orders I used more of a large basket and didnt research the individual stocks, playing more of an law of averages approach..
It seems like you have had luck with stock specific set ups. While I am not asking you to reveal which stocks you like, etc...
