    Opening Orders - 2009

Do you find certain periods of overall volatility help/hinder the strategy? I also am curious since this strategy is supposedly based on "trading with the specialist" since the specialist really has less pull than he use to due to the hybrid/electronic trading, doesnt kind of throw a wrench...

    Price Action Journal V1.5

Cool. Thanks, I read the previous journal, and am familiar with almost all of his setups. W, M, H&S, the importance of failures of each possibly meaning a strong opposite move, but I didnt know he used the 3bar setup.

    Price Action Journal V1.5

Is this type of setup his main type these days? I read his old journal; and I assume most of the setups remain the same, but I got the impression he was incorporating more scalping and reversal trading off of S/R lines, etc I was just curious, if your example was more or less his "bread and...

I wont even ask what "ron Jeremy" play is :D but it looks to me like it is a 1-2-3 reversal.. (or a variation of it) I have been watching these patterns and they seem to be pretty reliable and relatively safe... Suri Dudella speaks and illustrates about these in his book (original...

Day Trading Thoughts For Fri. Jan. 16

THanks for your explanation and example.. I have heard of others describing that phenomenon refering to it as "red to green" (bar colors) with the open as a trigger when dealing with "hot momentum" stocks sounds kind of like an Opening range breakout strategy with a directional bias. (gap...

Day Trading Thoughts For Fri. Jan. 16

Erik, Just a question. Once you create a focus list of stocks that look like good longs, how do you trade (or do you) in down markets? (intraday traind I am refering to.) One thing I have been confused about is how to time the setups to market behavior. To me" buying strong stocks...

Thanks Gary, I have always been interested in Piscays methods.. I fully read the AHG journal, and rememebr seeing some of Piscays input, but never got a good grip on how he scalped. Does Piscay also stay out of range bound choppy markets, or does he try to trade teh S/R in teh range...

    gaps and trading

That is actually and interesting point.. I guess my idea of playing the opening gap always involved a large amount of symbols (spreadsheet) and automation, but using a more stock specific discretionary approach could be a good idea.

    Screening for "strong" stocks

I am interested in this also, mainly for a daytrading perspective. To me, it seems by the time you trade the stock in motion, it is too late. (which is why a realtime scanner of 200% volume breakouts really doesnt work that well IMO.) I would be really interested in how people collecty and...

    Opening Orders - 2009

Lescor, I am curious, do you filter out any sort of gaps in your selection based on technicals? (ie breakaway gaps) I understand the idea of cancelling news driven orders, but wasnt sure if people also looked at technicals (or the type of gap) when trading this strategy.

    gaps and trading

I basically took this idea, and attempted to break it down into statistics based off of the first 5-20 minutes of trading.. To me, knowing AAPL fills the gap 90% of the time didnt do me much good, if the stock trades in $3 ranges and no time study was done.. In other words, where do you...

    gaps and trading

I noticed this also, and this drives me insane.. I developed a statistical strategy based off of gap behavior, and these erroneous prints basically destroyed its results.. I love how the SEC and the NASD are all about "fair and accurate" reporting of trades, yet base the open off of 141...

    gaps and trading

Yes. I dont touch the initial move. I let it create a range (channel/triangle, etc) then act accordingly. Of course you have the gaps that just run and run from the get go, but its too risky for my liking..

    Best Trading Threads

Because most people that are genuine and add valuable here, get fed up with a) being accused of being a "fake" or liar (and are constantly being rediculed or asked to "prove" themselves out of jealousy from others.) b) Get so many PM's and requests from those wanting to learn they get...

    gaps and trading

Spam much?? http://www.elitetrader.com/vb/search.php?s=&action=showresults&searchid=2744066 Anyway, to the original poster, It depends on the type of gap. I am no expert on gaps, but from what I have gathered "all gaps are not created equal." First thing is learn the different types...

    Price Action Journal V1.5

I am not sure about trading the gap... People talk about statistics, and there isnt much to back a strategy on trading it (as far as the ES is concerned.) It seems like a crap shoot. Unless the gap occurs along a major S/R level, and bounces accordinlgy, it seems dodgy.
