Horrible experience:IB cost me $50,000 this morning

Thanks. I will look at them. I need a broker who supports OpenQuant. My choices it seems right now are Open E Cry, MB Trading or Genesis as an alternative to IB. If anyone has any experience/recommendation with any of these in regard to automated program trading let me know. I have looked the...

What happens if the USD loses its reserve currency status...

Well, you see almost an identical sharp drop in the dollar during the Reagan and first Bush years as well. It has more to do with the level of debt and deficit accumulation than the dot com bubble. I am no fan of Bill Clinton but he was more of a fiscal conservative than either Bush ever was...

Horrible experience:IB cost me $50,000 this morning

Yeah, for all those trashing IB, please recommend other alternatives for automated program trading with low costs. I'm seriously all ears...

    Check this guy out

Yeah, Oscar is quite annoying with his "Good morning, good afternoon yah yah" and his "Stops are in yah yah". If he would quit doing that his videos would be halfway tolerable but I can only watch it once in awhile at most. I am still wanting to know why he moved shop to Las Vegas from New...

What happens if the USD loses its reserve currency status...

Well, it can certainly fall more from here. It is not an exact comparison, but look at what happened with the British Pound after 1980. It fell in value over 50% until it bottomed out in 1985. Still other currencies have fared much worse in history than that (look at the Zimbabwe Dollar  )...

    Roger's 29 y/o cotton farmers

I think if there is a choice between farming and working on Wall St, I'll choose the latter. Where else can you drive a Maserati, make millions a year and be guaranteed not to go bankrupt by the govt. at expense of taxpayers like you were some kind of underprivileged class. Makes perfect sense...

SEASON 2, thursday TV WALLSTREET WARRIORS

Yeah, he handled it well I thought and came off looking pretty good on the show overall. You can tell he is serious about his business and is probably relieved it worked out the way it did. She is a flake but who wasn't at her age... c'est la vie

    Anyone trades on iPhone?

I don't think so... I remember an interviewer asking Steve Jobs whether iPhone supported full Java and he said no because Java was too bulky and a memory hog. He said it had Javascript but not Java. I have only used it in the store but the slowness of the Edge network and the lack of Java...

Yeah, I think this thread will help people who are looking into that type of deal. I doubt that she or anyone with that company will come on here to explain. That would probably shine too much light on their "proprietary trading solutions". The silence is deafening however especially since you...

    Trading with a bank guarantee

Yeah, I think they got back something like 20 to 30 cents on the dollar more than a year after it went bankrupt.

SEASON 2, thursday TV WALLSTREET WARRIORS

My point is that trading is and always will be a rags to riches industry that doesn't require a fancy ivy league degree. If you want to analyze corporate balance sheets and structure financings deals that is one thing but having an MBA or finance degree in trading is practically useless.

Jim Rogers sees short term rally in financials

If you buy it at 15, does that mean you will like it twice as much if it hits 8 or only half as much?

SEASON 2, thursday TV WALLSTREET WARRIORS

"Most of these Harvard MBA types - they don't add up to dogshit. Give me guys that are poor, smart, hungry - and no feelings. You win a few, you lose a few, but you keep on fighting." I would not give a Wharton or Harvard grad money to trade based on their degree alone. Degrees mean shit in...

    ShadowTraders.com

Yeah, I figured there was probably some out there that would allow it. Amazing though. I figure if you have to calculate your daily margin to fit that type of trade in, you can't afford to make the trade anyway even if the broker will allow it.

I really loved this part of her email to you... "we saw what the market was doing. In fact we did 3 trades back to back and walked away with 9 ticks. because we knew what the market was doing." I thought about this more and just laughed out loud. "We knew what the market was doing"...

how does IB handle FX trades??

Strong stomachs and large accounts. They also have a longer time frame than just a day trade and can handle temporary conditions. Usually, the longer your time frame the less these types of bucket shop games will affect you. Eventually, the market will go where it will go.

LOL. You are cruel... but in a good way. I think they should answer the question here too. They've probably never heard of ET. They are definitely getting "called out" and need to respond. Also, can anyone tell me what broker out there let's you trade 15 ES on 10K even just for intraday...
