    best antivirus

In my experience, the anti-virus programs are six/half. Most people qualify for some kind of partner-subsidized subscription to one of the large commericals, for example I get McAfee for free through Scottrade. Make sure you also have a firewall of some kind. Last but not least you will need...

    Virus help???

Lots of nasty stuff going around the web these days. Anti-virus isn't enough, you need a program dedicated to finding and removing spyware/malware, such as Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware. It's free and effective. http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

Here is a link to petition against trader tax

While I do think it's important for traders to sign the petition, you fellows would do well to understand that there will not be a transaction tax.

    security tool fake

Had this one. Frustrating bit that it won't even let you access Task Manager to end the process, or run any of your virus/adware software. Solution: Reboot in Safe Mode, then download, install and run Malwarebytes' Anti Malware. No need to format hard drives, re-install Windows or any...

    ari kiev: dead @ 75.

I credit Dr. Kiev as the one who helped me take my trading to the next level. For years I had struggled with daily, weekly and monthly monetary levels that had served as mental barriers. His work helped me overcome these mental blocks and freed me to realize returns I never thought possible...

    Scanning Software Help

I'm looking for a real-time, intraday scanner that will dynamically find stocks and alert me when a technical indicator meets certain user-entered parameters . For example: "continually scan for stocks that are up >2%, on greater than average volume, and have become oversold on the 5 minute...

Howard Lederer: On Poker and Trading

Pretty timely article vis-a-vis this thread. It would seem that the Street disagrees with those who maintain that poker's skill sets are not relevant to trading. Having played both poker and traded professionally for years, the similarities are obvious to me...not sure why some people don't...

Howard Lederer: On Poker and Trading

You must have missed the bit at 2:15. This applies directly to trading, and to trend trading in particular. I'll take "small loss, small loss, small loss, small loss, big win" every time over the inverse. Most traders experience the inverse, which, combined with under-capitalization (also...

    security device

I use one to get into Morgan Stanley's Passport product, it is effective. Problem I got with the technology is the constant radio waves being generated by such a device, which many carry in their hip pocket on a keychain, in such proximity to vital body parts.

If USD Implodes, all Paper Currencies Implode & World Crashes-Most Don't Talk of This

The hyper-inflation argument is fashionable, en vogue, and wrong. People seem to forget that the desperate attempt to re-inflate is only the applied medicine. This cycle ends in massive debt destruction and a deflationary depression, depsite a negative real rate. Japan, only uglier.

    Scalp some / Swing some

Scalp some and let the rest ride is mainly done for psych reasons. Attempting to play long ball consistently is very difficult because of all the give-backs. I think the most profitable way to trade is actually to add to all winners, however most lack the fortitude. Google phantom of the pits...

What are the advantages of day-trading stocks over futrues?

Let's face it, most here trade futes simply because they don't have the scratch for a PDT equity account. Stocks offer far more intra-day opportunity for a momentum/trend day trader. Futes often do nothing but chop all day while individual stocks are regularly trending 5-15%. To wit, the...

edgx problem. The cheapest way to hit nyse quote.

What the OP is experiencing is likely due to EDGX "Flashing" his orders and HFT shops executing ahead. Soon to be outlawed. Side note: I see lots of trading jargon thrown around on ET by people who don't know any better. Guys, the term "hitting" is specific to selling. You do not "hit"...

    Stock screener anyone?

One of the best features is that it links to most charting software packages and execution platforms. When I click on a stock in Trade Ideas, it automatically pulls it into my intra-day chart in my execution platform so that I can pull it and trade it in two clicks.

    Stock screener anyone?

Check out Trade-Ideas Pro. It's a real time screener, and does a lot more. I use it every day to show me where the big money is flowing into/out of. It is probably the one piece of software that is irreplaceable to my trading as it saves me from punching up stock after stock and wasting...
