I have found that list to be incredibly inaccurate for what i understand it means. I may just not be understanding it correctly, but i thought every stock on that list could be crossed short, which in my experience is simply not the case.

The funny thing is some stocks allow crossing down into the bid and some dont in my experience. For instance as you know i trade EMC everyday, and i can cross down to the bid on any ECN or the specialist at any time. Im not sure why this is, but there is no restriction whatsoever about...

I dont have the experience of yourself, but i must say from my limited time on NYSE with OB, i would agree that 'lots' of the orders that move the stocks i trade are not shown on the NYB at any point before the specialist moves up 5 cents. I will be watching the level 2 and all of the sudden...

I have found that when i trade 1500 share lots and i try to cross to the book i always get screwed out of fills like others have mentioned, and i am way better off just keeping to 1k lots and hitting the key twice in a row to use the NX feature before a crossed book order for more than 10 lots...

As an FYI, i pay about $1.20 to $2 to flat 1k shares, so thats .0012 to .002 per share commision. If i paid .01 i would get absolutly hammered everyday. I would suggest if you are a consistent scalper to look for a better commision deal. If not, well, im no help cause i cant do anything but...

I personally dont think there is any one answer. If you get full ECN passthroughs it would be expensive to hit arca ($1 per 1k), and cheapest to hit island (90 cent credit per 1k). If there is enough volume on island to fill you i would say hit inet, if not, i would go brut (which is free)...
