Goldman Sachs Says Fed Will Cut Rate to 4.5 Percent in 2007

Looks an awful lot like they traded what was left of it for a better price in some redemption liquidations Friday morn: Monday's report on losses came just 2 days ahead of the fund redemption request deadline for the quarter... And if I were inclined to really indulge the conspiracy...

Why was the lowering of the fund rates so powerful?

GS note on Friday morn smacks of a calculated attempt to add umph to the squeeze on the discount ease so they could deal a chunk of exposure...after their monday report on the GA/GEO/NEO losses, probably got swamped with redemption requests into the wed deadline imagine we will be on hold...

But we may see a muted version if...

    Bear Market/recession Confirmed By Fed

Agree that fundamentals are out the window when the margin calls start coming on a daily basis, but I think you'll find that technicals work much better when market is in panic mode...Note the high in the DJIA pullback bounce last week...

Goldman Sachs Says Fed Will Cut Rate to 4.5 Percent in 2007

Surprised no consideration here of the fact that GS has a host of other fund managers speculating that they still have massive positions to unwind. I saw that release and got much more worried about where this could lead... Wonder if goldman could possibly be in such dire straits for a market...
