1/4% Tax on all stock trades pushed in NY Times today

I thought most 'daytraders' in UK trade CFD's anyway? So, that would create a huge CFD market for the rest of Europe?

Hotties leaving CNBC - Why ?

She was on Kudlow last night, didn't look that great without the excess makeup she had on during the debate. Or maybe the camera was too close.

help? for people researching options training

That one statement, that's where all the edge is. It's not in the structure of the roll, the expiry, how far OTM, or any of the other fluff online; it's the forecast on future volatility. But that's not what's being sold in options mentoring. Not in realtime, anyway.

help? for people researching options training

Too much gray area in hindsight. We are talking about a certain outcome (profit/loss). "if the person acted quickly enough and rolled down" - Well, then that also means they would be acting quickly enough in the 'good months' also . It's not like they forcasted ahead of time that Aug-Sept...

There's no special sauce for adjusting iron condors that you are going to learn in a couple thousand dollar course, quit trying to sell the dream.

Do they allow option spreads/naked and overnights? Is that 20 to 1 on options also? Or just equities?

    bogle on speculation vs investing

Dunno, I remember a lot of 'fundamental' people saying housing values will always go up because population increase/demographics will always support it.

XT and EW, could anyone get me a quote on these?

Howdy, futures tickers: XT, EW I can't seem to pull up XT (eur/usd european style options) or EW (e-mini sp500 european style options) on thinkorswim, I was wondering if someone on IB could look at the option chain and see if there is any comparable volume and bid/ask to their...

    raising funds

Seriously, a prop firm is your best ticket to $100k and beyond, if you are good. There's a whole forum on this website dedicated to prop firms, including websites/contact people, get started reading/researching/calling up firms there, rather than run around in circles in this thread. There are...

    raising funds

Why do you need an outside investor? Save $5k and go trade at a prop firm, if you are consistent they give you more leverage....you'll be at $100k BP quick, with consistent results.

Short options called away as part of a spread, now what?

The position does carry the homerun potential if SPY made a legit move north of 130 but I wasn't banking on that, rather I was looking at it from the 'tent' spread perspective, with the caveat if vola blows out you have a little built in downside protection to weigh your options. The move to...

    Nightime Volume vs Daytime Volume

The overnight movements are just correlated with Eur/USD, DAX, FTSE, etc. which start moving 2-3am. But the volume will never exceed daytime; the few volume spikes you see are right at the European opens/economic numbers or are resting stops.

Short options called away as part of a spread, now what?

Hi newwurld, when you say readjust your position, do you think it's possible to replicate something that looks like the original position or is that just me daydreaming? Considering SPY has moved 10 points?

Short options called away as part of a spread, now what?

As an aside, to avoid this I could simply dabble in European style options, like SPX, NDX, XSP, etc. but I figured that since most options are American style, eventually it is possible European style options could disappear because of lack of demand? Obviously not anytime soon (considering the...

Short options called away as part of a spread, now what?

Howdy options forum, I have a hypothetical question. Put on an SPY underlying, OTM Call Diagonal (using prices from a couple minutes ago): BUY +11 SPY Jan12 122 Calls @ 3.75 SELL -8 SPY Dec11 119 Calls @ 3.64 This spread prefers price to stay in the range, though also benefits...

fixing the housing problem by creating a derivatives market for homes.

aren't there housing futures on CME? I also recall Case-Shiller had some type of tradable security a couple years back, saw them debut it on CNBC.
