    Playing the C Lottery

"did it ever occur to you that someone has to be buying the USG's share of C? hmm? and i'm sure those investors are a helluvalot better educated than you pikers are. i know i am." This argument applies to every stock in the market. Every stock is owned by at least one sophisticated...

    Playing the C Lottery

C reminds me of when my roommate, a schoolteacher who never bot stocks, bot some LU at $3. Widely known stock, under $5, and after a big decline . . . it's nearly irresistable to some people. But at $110 billion, it's not exactly cheap. And it's not the same C . . . it sold half the brokerage to...

    IB for Forex ?

I never have any idea what's going on in IB. It all seems to work out, and I don't have any problem with the fills, but I can't figure out what goes or what it all means. I just click and hope it works.

Help me to find which platfrom i should use ?

What are the chances that there are 125 (or 25) guys sitting in some office in Bulgaria making big money trading preferred shares? This seems implausible.

Why so many people hold stocks and expensive debt (credit-card) at the same time?

Ha, I did this last year. Best decision I ever made. After some unemployment I had $15,000 in cc debt and an IRA that could have paid it off. Thank goodness I procrastinated.

Extremely Intresting Market Still Ahead: We Are At A Crossroad

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=IWM&p=W&b=5&g=0&id=p76456861137 That doesn't look like a bullish chart to me. I designate it the "two stabs at the heart and waiting for a third" formation.

    noob question

Well, if anybody's wondering, just made my first FX trade, selling 20,000 euros. In about 15 minutes the Euro fell off a table and sold off 50 pips, if I have the lingo right. This is so frickin easy. Anyway, I can see how it attracts so many degenerates with his last $500. Around the clock...

    noob question

Tnx for the reply. OK, but I might get say 15%, by what you're saying. None of the FX brokers mention much about the yield . . . I'm guessing the clientele doesn't care.

    noob question

If I do a AUD-USD currency pair at 5x leverage, does that mean I would get an annualized ~ 20% yield on my position? And is there somewhere to find yields on currency pairs? I googled around and can't find anything. Thanks

It Was Cascading Stops In Futures

With all the levered ETF's, you've got to believe that futures are much more important now, leading to wider swings on days like this.

    Vote here

I know. But you've got to add a little color, like "the bears will get their faces ripped off" or something.

This is the most pathetic poll ever. Let's put this out of it's misery.

My IBKR froze. The beta worked but not the old webtrader (I don't use the TWS).

    ibkr results

After reading the IBKR conf call, it's pretty simple actually. IBkr is just a plain vanilla market maker (plus a brokerage) which tends to be long volatility. So if a customer wants to sell AAPL calls, IBKR will buy the calls and short stock against it. If realized volatility is higher than the...

    Alternatives to Prop Firms?

I'm in the same boat as you, TSTrade. As you get older you have to create opportunities on your own.

    Alternatives to Prop Firms?

I doubt they have any special sauce. I don't have any idea what the business model is, but I suspect the traders they *train* are really intelligent monkeys executing the house strategy to the letter. Better to figure it out on your own, I would say. Any info on how these respectable prop...

    ibkr results

Here's why I ask the question. If I'm not wrong, NITE would batch opening orders together, open a stock up large, short the shares to their own traders, and then cover. I'm sure IBKR doesn't do that, but I'm wondering if any brokerages still do something like that.
