Most of them are prop firms that trade their own money. The evaluation takers are just not part of the prop team. The companies could consider them part of research and development. And on that note i wonder if i should put money gotten from the funded as prizes as that would reduce tax to the gov.

There are ways for them to make money from the money collected from evaluations being the pros in trading that they are. They can pay you from that and if they blow up they don't have to pay it's stated in the contract. You would think that brokers can't survive with $0 commission for trades but...
