Can a technical strategy be applied on any time frame? Eg 1min

Since order flow and speed edge is non-existent for retail traders we need to design predictive models within a time series with measurable entries/exits. Otherwise you're just shooting in the dark. You can use retail platforms and brokers if you have a grasp on your stats and execution...

Can a technical strategy be applied on any time frame? Eg 1min

Actually it's the opposite. I benchmark my intraday systems against longer term systems I designed. Both outperform the indices, but the intraday models grossly outperform (due to leverage) the long term models. I wish they didn't, as I'm getting tired of slaving away in front of my machines...

Are Automated Trading Systems Making Money

Single algo can be automated within a multi-day approach. Not a trivial task as you still need a grasp on ranges and assessing probabilities within them. Intraday involves more complex analysis within a structured time series. Variations of single code can be used to reflect the points within...

    Multiple accounts at IB?

Yes. With an LLC you can look into their prop group options. Up to five accounts can all trade different strategies (long or short) on same instrument. Buying power/Margin for all is shared and based off master account, but all accounts must still comply with minimum 25k PDT regulation.

No one seems to use indicators

I have my opinions about off-the-shelf indicators, but I can't say with certainty they're completely useless. Everyone has to start somewhere, and most useful quantitative models are proprietary for obvious reasons.

How do you rank as a trader?

I like this statement, as it personally reflects back to a long period of isolation and misery I was entangled into. As gloomy as it sounds, a corpse working in the dark is the reality. You get to a point where you sell your soul with no guarantee of seeing any light at the end of the tunnel...

    Trading Futures completely tax free

https://www.elitetrader.com/et/threads/self-directed-ira-accounts.185344/ Some expert in this thread states: "While it is legal to trade futures and do all sorts of stuff inside your IRA, you are probably going to have a tax disaster. The reason for the disaster is the tax code says that if...

    Trading Futures completely tax free

I'm hearing the IRS is cracking down on self-directed lRA accounts. Basically saying the moment you self-direct, you're in violation, account automatically becomes a non-IRA, becomes taxable and no longer qualifies as a tax shelter. This is because short-term transactions trigger unrelated...

I actually have on this forum, in bits and pieces. It's the implementation that gives it life.

This is very true, and this adaptation is what separates a good quant/trader from a hack

What are some useful things learned from Al Brooks price-action books?

I don't disagree with this, but the difference is you can't hand me the framework that allows me to replicate the results. With a quantitative approach, I can, and no one will you take you seriously if you can't. This is what makes it more sensible and viable.

What are some useful things learned from Al Brooks price-action books?

Regardless of how you develop your methods (Brooks, books, crooks, or whatever), the end result produces two kinds of trading approaches. Quantitative trading which is based on the analysis of numerical data. The other kind of trading is guessing. All sensible trading is quantitative. It is...

Alternatives to charts to perceive the market...?

Much more involved, but in regards to directional signals, they need to be customized to be fast, but at the same time not overtrade. If you're clever and diligent enough, you'll eventually figure out how to parse the data properly and reoptimize values as time passes.
