4re, I see the HOD as 1267.0, so you're looking for a full point of clearance to go long? I guess that's safe if it looks like it's clear sailing to 1272. Speaking of which, are you going go for 4.0 points on a long breakout tomorrow, or stick with your standard 2.0? I do know that you...

Well, your long call from last night of 1260, did work out well (which I guess is what you trade worked off of, even though you thought it was 1261.5). :)

But first run through 1261.5 dropped back and hit -2.0 stop? The second run through 1261.5 made it. Right?

Your 1253 long worked well early this morning. The 1260 level has been approached but not breached, and 1246.25 short hasn't been touched yet. Are you still satisfied with these S/R levels this morning? Will 1253 act as support now?

I still receive their daily recap e-mails (which doesn't include much these days, compared to before the internal war). However, adding to your point about that chart you posted, 4re, Franz now has a new signal, a "fortified war zone" called Excalibur. Yikes, another signal, in addition to...

4re - My subscription to Franz's room ran out a week and a half ago, so I can't help you out with what may or may not be going on with Franz. Frankly, I tired of the whole Franz/Afshin/Dave intramural warfare saga. This was one of several reasons why I let my subscription expire. Sandy

4re - I really appreciate this thread. Very constructive and without the B.S. on a lot of ET threads. I it stays as constructive as it has been so far (based on everyone's contributions, I think it will!) Jimmy - I really appreciated our PM exchange a week ago or so about how our filters...

Jimmy - good point on not using pre-market H/L levels for determining S/R. 4re - another nice +2.0 trade on the recent breakdown. Did you take the +2.0, or are you holding for more?

4re - Nice job on the 1263.75 short! If I may ask, why did you pick that level, instead of a lower level? Based on the lows in the couple hours before the open, I would have put the short level more in the 1262 region (which would have triggered and then stopped out :( ). Thanks...

In reading my post and comparing it to your breakout method, I'm thinking the simplicity of your method is much more appealing. :D

I guess I have a bit more on my charts than you. I've kept the MACD and Stoch. I also use a second longer-term MACD (when there's a divergence coming on that one after divergences on the other two, that's a really good indication that the trend is over and going to reverse). On the price...

How funny that you're also a fellow ex-TIer. It seems that the vast majority of fellow TIers I've had contact with have gone their own way from what's taught at TI. Either they are adding their own filters (like I have) to make the signals produce a higher win rate or have gone the opposite...

    Coiled Markets - Opinions?

I purchased 60 Minute Trader and worked at trading it daily for a couple months last year. I couldn't replicate the consistency and profitability that the proprietor supposedly achieves.

Yep, you called it correctly. I took the TI course last fall, and I've added my own filters to the TI set up. When you mention you monitor "momentum", are you referring to it in the general sense of how the price is moving, or are you watching a specific indicator to measure momentum?

4re - Nice work on today's short and long break out levels. Earlier you asked about what methods others use. I primarily use MACD/Stochastic divergence trades at support/resistance levels (using H,L,C and pivot/S1/S2/R1/R2 as guides). So if I'm getting stopped out, you'll probably be...

Did anyone run into data feed problem with PFG?

Technically, it's true that PFG has to get their time and sales information from someone else. I don't know if they're directly connected to the CME/CBOT or an intermediary. To my knowledge you cannot get another datafeed for TradeMaven other than the ones they are set up to work with (which...

Did anyone run into data feed problem with PFG?

Greeks - I have the same set up as you. JR is an introducing broker. Nothing really goes through them. They get paid a commission by PFG. Account money is held by PFG. Data feed comes from PFG (from exchange feeds). Transactions go through PFG to exchanges. TradeMaven is simply...

So do you set a GTC overnight limit order with bracketed exits on it (profit target = 2.0 and stop loss = 2.0) to manage the trade? Or are you manually entering the order in pre-market hours? Just curious if it's the former and if so, how well it works for you.

    5-Day Keltner Channel

I have the BBs set at 20 periods and 2 std. dev. So mine will be a bit broader than yours and a bit slower to change in width. I have my KCs set at 10 periods with a 10 period EMA, and an ATR multiplier of 1.3. There's no specific magic to those settings, just what I've gotten used to in...

Thanks for the explanation. By the way, on my continuous contract daily ES chart, I see the 12/30/05 close at 1254.75 (with the LOD just a bit lower). My ES`H intraday chart for that day shows the close at 1253.00 Not sure why this disagrees with your figure.
