PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

ZBEAR, Thanks. Please note that in my post I did not mean to impute Mr. Carney's reputation. I did not use his name in my post. I was referring to the general use of years of work by originator's of quality ideas without the providing of proper deference to the originator. I apologize to...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

ZBEAR, Regarding your post to Maverick about other patterns, it seems obvious that you are well versed in chart patterns. Also, as you likely already realize, when you add key Fib. ratios to those patterns, they take on even meaning as to what MAY be happening in the market. This does not...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Mav and opm, Really appreciate your contributions here. It shows that we can really have an intelligent thread on a meaningful subject. This is what is so wonderful about these patterns. When fully understood they really are predictive and tell the whole story. Let me clarify a few...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

opm8, I have found that the best way to trade these patterns is to trade all the patterns that develop. So, for example; if I watching a 2 min. chart, I trade all the patterns that develop. However, I am especially interested in a 2 min. topping pattern that may develop in the area of a 30...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

opm8, Another interesting fact about the patterns I trade is that they are visible on ALL time frames including tick charts. So, a trader simply must decide what timeframe he or she is comfortable with and trade the patterns as they develop and let the probabilities work in his or her favor...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

There ya go al c. Patterns within patterns. I like the way you stretch past intermediate Hi's n Lo's to grab those fib numbers. Confirmation is strong with multiple patterns / multiple time frames. Keep up the good posts. ZBEAR, Thanks for the comments, as time permits in the...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

The patterns have been working extremely well in recent days. Attached is the first of 2 charts posted. The first chart shows the confluence of 2 patterns shortly after the market open yesterday. The second chart will be on my next post and, shows the move after the patterns completed...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

ZBEAR, I saw that you asked MACD to post some charts, so I thought I would post one with what you were asking for however, this chart also shows a Bearish Gartley. I hope this helps. MACD, You must be a part-time novelist, I wish I had you writing skills! :) thanks, al c. p.s...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

MondoTrader, The way I refer to CONSISTENCY has nothing to do with wins and losses. It has to do with the CONSISTENT and disciplened application of a PROVEN methodology. By doing this, the probabilities will work in my favor over a series of trades. I have found that having EXPECTATIONS...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Jayford, Speaking for myself, I found it of great RELIEF when I finally gave up the use of indicators while following patterns. It eliminates "mixed" signals which causes indecision, frustration and hesitation. A DISCIPLINED approach using patterns based on Fib. ratios has been the answer...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Wally, 1.27 is the sq. root. of 1.618. These are Fib. EXTENSIONS NOT RETRACEMENTS and are vital to the way I trade. The extra line you refer to is the backbone of this pattern. The projected entry target was at precisely the 1.27 extension of that line. Hope this helps, al

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Jayford, My trading is strictly pattern based as well. However, I don't use ANY other indicators, strictly the price patterns which must meet specific FIB. RATIOS OF PRICE AND TIME. Keep up the good work, al

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

abducens, This is not a Gartley pattern and, yes there is a Fib. ratio of 1.27 at the entry target. al

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Kermit, Regarding your comment about playing smaller patterns into the larger ones, I agree completely, that makes perfect sense and a strategy that I use as well. Have you, or do you ever use Fibonacci Ratios along with your pattern analysis?

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Trend Fader, You are right, it is not a "classic" pattern but, it is highly reliable and effective when it sets up. It's called a butterfly. Thanks, al c.

Sorry, MACD I must have done something wrong on my last attempt at attaching a file which contains the chart I mentioned. I will try again. If it does not work this time, I can email it to you if you would like. Thanks, al c.

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Thanks for all the replies so far. MACD, attached is one of the patterns I regularly trade and it worked beautifully this past Friday morning as you can see by the result. The patterns work in all time frames. Digs, obviously you are light years beyond my technical abilities with a...

PATTERNS -- So These REALLY Work???

Hi, I am new to this forum and would like to get some opinions. As you know there are many different "patterns" that are recognized as valuable and repeating chart patterns. Some that we all have seen are the "Head & Shoulders" or the "Wedge", "Symetrical Triangles", etc. Well, I...
