Prop Firm Users - Make Your Case

Ok, I had a thread about finding Prop Firms north of NYC in the Westchester NY area. Surprisingly, I wasn't hammered by any prop firms about their shops - only a couple of individuals responded, and they weren't selling me (those that responded, thank you!) It was not the deluge I was...

Any prop firms north of NYC?

Thanks uptick - I was hoping to avoid a train into NYC - and you're right, there were firms everywhere until the dotcom meltdown.

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

Holygrail, I used a lawyer for a C-Corp and LLC on my first pass, but that was in conjuction with buying a business and real estate. Now that I know what is involved, (which isn't much, and isn't complicated) I completely agree that you do can and should do it yourself if you have the time...

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

I haven't read enough about "trader status" and what it does for you from a tax standpoint etc. Can you explain what being classified as "trader status" does for your bottom line when it comes to tax time?

Anyone trade through a C-Corp or LLC?

Did a search for this topic, only pulled up posts that were a few years old. 1) Does anyone trade for a living on ET through their own entity, either C-Corp or LLC? 2) What are the advantages to this financially - I know about the liability side, but is there really a benefit tax wise or...

How do you trade for living?

I love it when people actually take this *@#$ seriously and attempt to have an actual conversation over such a post - great way to start the day with a laugh :p :p :p Makes me wonder which devious ET poster is behind these types of posts....doesn't matter who, keep it up, makes for an...

    Uh-oh...another show about Wall St.

Good observation on the infomercial stuff - "control thousands of dollars of commodities with a low low investment!", "gold is going to $2000 per oz!!!"

    Uh-oh...another show about Wall St.

I should have mentioned there are TWO shows coming out - one is a six part documentary on I believe what is called "indemand" network - follows around a group of hedge fund managers. The other is going to be an hbo series (or some network) along the lines of "Entourage". I'll officially coin...

    Uh-oh...another show about Wall St.

I just heard on CNBC that there is going to be a show about hedge funds coming out in the near future. Last time this happened was when that show was on tv about a wall street brokerage firm - and it pretty much marked the end of the tech bubble and the soon to follow implosion. If a a show...

Funny thing happened to me today, I went to a porn site and a trading group discussion broke out........ It never ceases to amaze me how quickly these threads can dissolve into Benny Hill material - you guys (and gals) are a riot!!!! LOL :D

    Changing from businessowner to trader

I am looking to make the transition from owner/operator of a small business to full-time trader. I realize there is a long learning curve (years), and everyone follows their own path to become a competent trader (if ever), but I could use the help of EliteTraders out there, so here goes...
