Did another hedge fund blow up??

They may not have blown up, but until their investors get their monthly NAV numbers no one will know for sure. There are still rumors flying that they had to unwind some large postions that percolated into other markets, perhaps in the dollar/yen carry trade. Citadel has a good reputation for...

Insider trading how important is that?

Day trading this information might be useless, but buying and selling by insiders can be a guage to determine how the company will perform some months going forward. If I remember correctly there are some hedge funds out there that incorporate insider selling as a signal for stocks that could be...

    Average Wall St paycheck $300k?

Success is not measured by what other people tell you what success is measured by, it is measured by what ever you want it to be measured by. Remember, we all have our own values, one man's success is being rich another man's success is owning his own fruit stand. -Neo

    Nat Gas Mini

I think its false to think that the unwinding of spreads would have a neutral effect, because the buying and selling occurs in different contract months, so for example the near month would experience excessive buying and the far out month excessive selling or vice versa depending on the whether...

Interest Rates => Economy => Newbie question

In reality anticipated interest rate changes don't change anything. For an interest rate change to effect the economy it has to be unanticipated, thus it creates a short term shock. If it is anticpated it has no effect on spending and inflation in the short run as well as the long run. -Neo

My thesis for oil is coming true. . .

My paranoid anti-gov theory is that the oil reserve spiggots have been opened right before the elections... and the fact that fundamentally oil was never worth 70 something dollars to begin with. -Neo

Thanks for the reply Pabst, you have cleared somethings up for me however, I also see a mini-Corn contract listed on cbot's website, which has a tick size of $1.25 vs the big one which has a tick of $12.50. Corn vs. mini-Corn

Hi, I'm trying to get some opinions on the cbot contracts. Is anyone trading one or the other? How is the action off the floor (electronic)? Are the spreads tight? Does it move, or does it stagnate once the floor shuts down? How about the fills? Any tips or advice on things to watch out for...

trading at work using undisclosed account

Here are the some of the draconian requirements I've encountered in the industry so far: 0. Required letter of permission to open an account. 1. Required permission to trade, besides stuff on restricted list. 2. Required permission to trade by family members 3. 30 day min holding period or...
