Micro E-mini Madness (2% per day)

I wrote that I hit my max daily loss of $50 today. My max daily loss is actually 5% of the account, which is about $75 with my current balance, but I had had enough for the day. I thought 5 days of a bull run would tire that heard of bovine out, but it was not to be today. WOW. 3,000 ES was...

Micro E-mini Madness (2% per day)

I kept trying to short the market today and hit my max daily loss of $50. Even though it hurts, these things happen and we roll with them, as I mentioned yesterday. Relentless was the word of the day for sure. The bulls stampeded up the hill. I unsubscribed from newsletters today. They have...

Congrats. That is $92,000 per year. Time for a journal on ET! Share your successes (and failures) and I believe it will help you to stay focused and keep your rules as it has me.

One of my rules is to enter shorts on pops and enter longs on dips if possible, but the emotion, the fear of missing out (FOMO) got me short where I did on that trade. And I think the big boys planned it that way. So the second part of the emotional discussion (the first was accepting losses...

It is a slow pseudo-holiday. I just took a short trade on MNQ this morning on a topping pattern but got blasted for negative $20 almost instantly. And to further add insult to injury, the market then immediately resumed my anticipated direction. I know by using terms like "insult" and...

As stated in my first post, my purpose here is to demonstrate for newer traders that they CAN (with proper leverage and an edge) skip the funding company route and put the amount they would have spent on TST or OneUp, etc (est $2,500+) into a small account and then grown that account into a...

Here is a great comment from a good friend of mine in the other place I hang out. He was responding to someone trying to analyse the macro view of the markets. "Since I day trade I can’t look to far out on a swing basis. I look at the macro view but don’t try to formulate a long term bias. I...

Thanks. For my other account (not the one from AMP profiled here) I trade with Gain through Stiker.com, who appears to be an Introducing Broker for Gain via a "white label" arrangement. My commissions are higher with Striker.com. I don't see a commission page for Gain, and I don't see one for...

Thanks for your encouragement. I understand what you are saying about being really careful to not dilute my decision making ability by adding in too much crap to look at. You may have seen one of my favorite charts (posted on Sep 2). I am aware of the risks of too many indicators, for sure...

So if the full epiphany was not obvious, here it is: Ranges (#6 above) have boundaries and mid lines. These range boundaries are like the VAH and VAL of the daily volume profile, and the mid line is like the POC. If I trade within this context, then I should stay alive for many more weeks.

I am still very new to volume profile. Value Areas (and the 80% rule) and POCs (some call them COTs) are intriguing. I have actually used something very similar on an intraday basis for 5 years and just made the connection with the daily time frame a couple months ago. Ready for the epiphany...

My newest favorite method of big market analysis is "market profile" which is nothing more than a way of trying to determine "Where is the true value in the market?" Several of the guys in the chat room I am in use it, and here is Peter of ShadowTrader.net who does a free weekly video...

Micro E-mini Madness (2% per day)

I lost a little today on two trades. Down about $25. The lesson is WAIT for the turn. In each case the market decided to do its own thing (the running of the bulls) and actually didn't care for a second what I wanted it to do. Imagine that! Trade deal negotiations with China posed great...

If it weren't so outrageous I'd be laughing. I told them the exact same thing. $21.40 would be the equivalent charge for an E-mini. It is not Striker's fault, but Gain Capital. Get with the times Mr. Broker.

I misunderstood a comment from my Striker rep. The round trip cost per micro is still just over $2.00. I am unhappy about it, but I am going to try to make it work. I think I am currently paying just under $5/RT for the full E-minis. Please go to their website(s). Striker.com or...

Thanks. Anyone can follow a trend. But when does it end? What do you do when the market is in a tight range? What games are the "big boys" playing with my stops? These are things that are mostly taught in the school of hard knocks. I shouldn't have been such a slow learner. It shouldn't...

The volatility was so amazing last night that I decided to trade it. That, along with a very fadeable over-exuberant rally this morning, allowed me to get 96 ticks with two contracts in the last 24 hours, making this my best day yet for my system. The second milestone I crossed today is that...

Thanks. This is the most consistent I have been in 13 years. The key is not trying to hit home runs I think, and being willing to take those losses before they get too big.

I finished the day strong with 55 NQ/YM ticks. It was a strange day as we seemed to wait forever for the FOMC minutes. And then the craziness began near the close with huge swings both ways. But it looks like we are still in a big range and to me this means "trade the edges" until there is a...
