How do you scale-in and why?

I posted this a while ago: From "Speculation As A Fine Art And Thoughts On Life" by Dickson G. Watts (written around 1880):

Today was a religous experience, netted 235 points per contract in the YM today today - a new record for me.

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

Its just weird how funds try to bid the markets up every morning only to lose that game in the afternoon. We'd be much better off if they just let this market gap down every day and let everyone that wants to sell aggressively sell then bid late afternoon to close higher than the open - that...

    YM Traders

Great...took a 40 point hit on that trade and it was my first attempt at an overnight/MRC trade...perfect timing...the day the news of human bird flu transmission comes out. YM down near 100 last time I checked. Tommorow = fun day.

    YM Traders

YM down nearly 70 points after hours. I went long at 11083 as a scalp/MRC trade. What is the afterhours schedule for YM? CBOT website not very helpful. Also are GTC orders valid in the afterhours?

Larry Williams arrested in Sydney for tax evasion

When is one safe from an audit? How many years have to pass or is there no limit to how far back the IRS can go?

Report: Markets 'Are Like 1987 Crash'

notice that when markets are going up the sell-offs can be near very steep and when markets are going down the rallies can be very steep...like today's 10 handle rally in 20 minutes if we're breaking the long-term downmove in the VIX then I think the market from here on will be more of a...

Still in College - Any Advice

This is absolutely the best advice ever posted towards college kids interested in trading. All you have to do is set aside 1 semesters worth of tuition aside as risk capital, read the trading literature classics, seek out a veteran trader to guide you, and give it a shot for 1-2 years. If you...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

Rockets, Icebergs, etc. - you guys may want to create a glossary for these terms for those unfamiliar with Jack's methods. The search function doesn't help much unless you want to go through hundreds of posts, which is very time consuming and an inefficent way of learning about something. If...

Is it time for a major Market Correction?

Anyone who thinks that monetary policy activism works and wants to point to the Great Depression as an example, thank you for pointing out the perfect example of why monetary policy activism doesn't work. In the 20s the activist fed established cheap credit standards that were an absolute joke...

Is it time for a major Market Correction?

I don't support activist monetary or fiscal policy. The non-activist approach: markets are self correcting so keep interest rates steady and balance the budget. You get healthy boom and bust cycles with this approach. The problem is that people want to have an economy that only booms, so they...

    SPY spike

How can a keypunch error result in getting filling 200k shares of SPY at one dollar higher. SPY can easily handle that size without too much slippage.

Can't bring myself to leave my job.

I'd suggest you get another job in a big city. I left one job for another a year ago. The new job ended up being the wrong move as the hours were crazy, and the place was a revolving door. I hated it and didn't pay that much anyway so I left to pursue my dream of being a trader. So far I...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

I agree. The number one thing all new traders are told is "cut your losses." I think this promotes too much emphasis on money, on the result of a trade, and on exits - kind of like putting the cart before the horse. Whereas the real emphasis has to be on your body and on current market...

    Question for Grob/Hershey...

SCT (seamless continous trading) = hold/reverse right? What advantage does this offer over the stop-loss/profit-taking approach? I think many traders perfer the stop-loss/profit-target approach because it offers greater control over the equity curve and the ability to sit out the chop.
