    Robinhood Gold now with level2(Nasdaq)

Isn't this considered a "not so very good" brokerage? What are the actual costs per trade or per share? From someone who has been there, done that. I can read, too, but what someone writes doesn't always tell the whole story or tell it unmbiguously or obviously. On the face of it, looks like a...

Question on Availability of Funds from Sale of Stocks

A guy on my ship was saying he tried to buy stock with money from stock he had just sold and was told it would be a couple of days before the funds were available for buy orders. Didn't ring true to me, unless it was a broker that only caters to investors and not traders. Being a newbie I didn't...

Bank Of America Raising Its Minimum Wage To $20 An Hour

Nice move. Attracting more prospects gives them a greater pool to choose new employees from. It will be interesting to see how this plays out. The good press from paying all employees a livable wage won't hurt, either. Thinking about switching to BOA over that, myself, actually. This is good...

    Gillette Doubles Down On Stupid

"Toxic Masculinity"? That's a thing, now? My GF doesn't seem to think it's a bad thing. I don't see that ad as "glorifying obesity" as much as giving the plus sized community the idea that someone out there notices and acknowledges them. Same for the trans community. Plus sized chicks seem to...

    Question about IB please?

Windows is just too insecure, too buggy, too prone to catastrophic failure, too vulnerable to malware, too bloated, too much in the unseen hands of the priesthood that has access to the top secret source code. Like all corporations, Microsoft sometimes relies on dishonesty and deception to keep...

    Question about IB please?

TBH I am sold on LS. Except they don't support Linux users. My only choices are IB and TDA. LS appears to be the better brokerage for day traders. Except for the WinDOHs thing.

Anyone here using DAS Active Web trading platform?

Yeah I bought a laptop with W8 installed when I couldn't find one with W7. After three days I had enough, so I tried to set up a dual (duel? LOL) boot system with Ubuntu, and after a week gave up and formatted the HD, then installed Ubuntu straight up. Never looked back. Now, I don't understand...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

I would chew those drawers right off of her.

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

I would have to leave, not her, since it's her house. I would have to move back onto my boat, I guess. But at least now I got a bigger boat. Plenty of room for Angelina to stay the night, if I decided it was okay. I used to see her sometimes, when I lived in the FQ. In fact she sat next to me...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

My GF would make me put my stop at third base, I think. Just so she could say she managed to snag a man so picky that he wouldn't boink Angelina Jolie but could have.

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

In this regard, do you think stocks and currency work about the same? IOW if you were daytrading stocks, would you do it the same way? I can definitely see adding to a losing position, but only after tick in the desired direction and with some obvious catalyst, and all logic pointing to the...

Anyone here using DAS Active Web trading platform?

I am a Linux user and positively am not going to ever go back to WinDOHs. NOT an option. I have used windows, from 3.1 to 7, and they lost me for good and forever, irrevocably, at W8. IB and TDAmeritrade support Linux users, yeah. I am just looking for all my options. On the face of it, a web...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

I thought about that. I think if I automated my stop I would set my own auto stop fairly loose, though. In light of what others have said and after looking at a bunch of charts, it is obvious that there is a lot of stop running out there in the wild. Too many reversals that re-reverse for a tick...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

Thanks for all the replies, everyone. I just woke up, it is not quite 0500 where I am right now, 14 hours ahead of NYSE time. Got a half hour to have my cappuccino and get ready for work. I definitely will start out "cherry picking" with only one trade generally, on any trading day, since I...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

I didn't realize anybody else could see where my stop is before execution. Or you mean they might push a bit and try to stop the little guys out, and then run on the stock after all the tight stops are executed? And then because my stop was too loose for it to work on me, I am still in and can...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

Well, I will HAVE to do some paper trading just so I am used to the platform and can minimize operator error and operator lag. That Maximum Adverse Excursion thing sounds like a good thing. I tried paper trading from the ship but the slow laggy satellite connection makes it impossible, and I...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

Except that sometimes it DOESN't go the way you thought it would, a minute later. I get where you're coming from, but if I was feeling that way about a stock's near future short term price action, I would still place a stop order, just a looser one. Stuff happens. I don't mind if a promising...

How do YOU decide where to place YOUR Stop?

I have already been researching this for several months. A couple of years, actually. Lurked in forums, googled, bought a few books. Gave it a lot of thought. It wasn't just a pin the tail on the donkey type decision but I did want to start out in sort of a specific niche. There is an awful lot...

    Best brokerage for new traders?

I can't make a recommendation, but I will point out that TDAmeritrade and IB both support Linux users, and apparently nobody else does, so if you use Linux you are probably looking at one of these two for your final choice.
