Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

so you guys all trade $10+ stocks? The only allure I like about penny stocks is the leverage ie. move from .01 to .16 is huge percentage.

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Thank you - passed up on OWCP last week, ha you can guess what happened :( but the methodology was right to pass it. Had the flag drawn... sucks but better to do it right... ugh now I am super frustrated, should of pulled the F'ing trigger huh? This def creates mental anguish, how do you guys...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Yeah, I think I need to take this approach if I plan on holding for more than a couple hours. I wish there was a good technical filter to filter out the garbage prone to halts, etc.

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Sure - I agree but from a TA perspective how would I avoid stocks like that? Do you use filters? I was not so concerned with the company as it set off my tech alerts, regardless of its fundamentals which I didn't look at.

Did I miss something? I'm trying to have real discussion with other traders.

No, wish I could get my money back from that halt.. going to take a while to rebuild my portfolio and get a nice equity curve. Hopefully just a momentary blip. I used to love shorting UVXY but its been trending down so long, cant imagine vix not popping at some point soon. Brexit really hurt...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Ha if bored, what did you think of my MCOA chart? Looks ripe for breakout but risky because of shares outstanding/otc. And yeah learned my lesson with DRYS don't want to be burned again. SINO was same category and popped last week, I got in and out before letting myself get screwed again. Guess...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

I just said DRYS was an example of a bad trade. I don't having feelings for any particular stock, not sure why you are trolling. Literally saying maybe we can come up with rules for avoiding these types of stocks.

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

ok so lets talk real strategies instead of insults - 500K+ vol avg min price of $5 before even looking at it? I know O'Neil was a proponent of 10-20 dollar sweet spot. Also, I am not saying I like DRYS, just said it was a trade that sucked...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

I am trying to figure out how to avoid getting in high fliers that are prone to halts and very fast retracements I guess without completely eliminating decent profits. I am not a fan of index fund trading but it seems like that's only way to avoid this but at that point profits are so limited...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

well then give me legit feedback instead of think I am trolling, I assure you I am not. I literally got my signal saw the gap, gap closing, high vol, had a stop at breakout point etc. From a trading perspective, I do not think I did much wrong as the halt is what killed me. So the only input...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

This was the chart I made and used, and it ran and there was a legit gap. If they didn't halt it, could of went to $500+. I bought on the breakout with volume as you are supposed to. I had a stop too, stops don't do squat when you get halted. I am being open and honest with what I have...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

I disagree. For example, DRYS had the trend start I caught the trend and did all the rules of trading. It had volume and price expansion and I jumped in. Was a hell of a trade until the halt. But from a trading perspective, that was a trade, lit up my vol indicator and met my criteria. That's...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

OK, so OTC should not be traded in your opinion? Do you stick to the higher priced stuff? I used to only trade stocks with 500K vol and priced above 5. But now that I am getting back into it, I have been turned on to the sub dollar stuff with volume. Seems like it's a disaster waiting to...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

I definitely used to think this too. But when I saw a "master" type touting them, I thought maybe this way of thinking has changed. For example, MCOA still manages to trade with some serious volume, so I don't see the issue with OTC when the issue has volume. Am I completely wrong??

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Ah let me clarify - I made the trade, my limit order filled. My conspiracy theory is some guy on the other side had heavy fingers and put in a market order and my limit order filled since it was a thinly traded stock. The amount showed up in my account and I used it to buy other stocks. At the...

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Alright, but just seems like everytime a stock flies, the kind that can create real wealth super fast, it gets halted. But on way down they let it go. Look at DRYS in November. I have never been up so much, and it just got taken away. Very frustrating.

this was optionshouse, switched to TD. I took the profits from the trade and put into multiple stocks. Every damn trade was unwound.

Took break from trading, but I know you cannot give up

Hi guys, So I am getting back into trading after taking a few months off. Why did I take a few months off? Well let me tell you why (I wonder if this is typical of many). 1. I made a trade that made me, on paper at least, $3M+. I put in a limit order to sell and got filled. Couple hours...
