    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Hehe, I gave back 6 ticks on a short. I'm just watching for now ... Some uncanny activity - but these guys seem to be pitbulls clutching on there.

Sorry, forgot to mention that it was a demo on FXCM.

I can't say if price lagged any - since it's all individual quotes on spot FX. Had a long on FXCM on a low 1.23 entry as well, and a limit a little above. That limit didn't get executed before roughly 15 mins after the price had skyrocketed through it. I also entered some trades when action...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

I got in a little above 1.23 before the numbers and had a limit set - so I just got 35 pips of the move - and with a quite small position. I figured there was a good chance it was a disappointment, but you never know about the reaction or price levels. I would not short this quite yet ...

whooooaw. :D I must say FXCM was horribly lagged with regards to execution ... many minutes! Also Velocity Futures / X-Trader was very lagged with 3-15 seconds lagging InteractiveBrokers. Just go to show what a stable, proven platform gives you. :)

Possibly, we'll see the brunt of the move in the other timezones before the NFP number, just like we have seen the last few days, but I hope not. Friday-reluctance as well as monday holiday might excacerbate the anemic late hours we've seen the last few fridays.

Hehe, I don't think neither currency deserves such a run-up, and anyway there are serious questions about the US economy which any number of NFP jobs can not undo. In such case (of a giant move) I would look into entries for countering for potentially bigger profits.

Were out doing some shopping, and I see I haven't really missed a lot. :) I think we'll definitely see the patriotic push a little later when Greenspan speaks, but I don't know from which level - have no clue. Also, I don't think we'll see that much movement into the close either as probably...

I was just reading the New Market Wizards interviews last night, and it was a somewhat good read - especially on FX and currency futures which interested me mainly. It seems it was much easier in the more inefficient markets back then, so I don't know how much credence we should put into their...

I got lucky too with a 11 pip short, and I guess that's it for today. :) edit: actually, I couldn't resist a little long around here ... micro-position, though. :) edit2: got out on second thoughts for another 4 ticks. Total 16 ticks on 8 trades, but that's it too for today.

How wide stops do you trail on a day like today ? Are 10 tick profits good, or do you wait for bigger fish ? :)

Yes, Fed speakers may give a little jolt now and then, but the main theme seems to be running stops wherever they're identified - confer www.ifrmarkets.com / Thomson.

Anemic trading by myself today and yesterday. Made +2 on 1 trade yesterday and have +1 after 6 trades today (3 b/e trades - so a little commission making the red here). Can't seem to decide on a short-term bias which is right, which indicate some confusion and range-bound trading, I guess...

Truly a yawning US session for the EuroFX today. I might say the same about the asian sessions lately - although last night was a fair amount of slide. European sessions look a little more spicy .. but ... getting up freakin' early is not my definition of 'fun' anymore (I used to trade european...

Yes, although I'm not very thrilled about how they deliver quotes (sometimes splitting trades, and many times delivering quotes in non-chronological order - i.e changes in bid/ask before the engulfing trade is posted). I understand why, though - updating information you need to trade is first...

I have a 1Mbps line. Yes, there is very little activity; no signs of moves to act on either, glad I did other stuff the last few hours. edit: when adjusting the charts it looked better, though - but haven't missed out on a lot it seems.

Deutsche Banks's Euro sentiment survey today: Sentiment Survey of European Importers and Exporters The euro’s latest rejection from the mid-$1.24s has drawn a collective sigh of “I knew it”’ from market participants. The sideways range of the last few months appears unbreakable...

Yes, disappointing that they managed to cut it down to under 1.23 as well. I was inclined to believe 1.2355 would hold also. Well, anyway - I feel comfortable buying some small dips for small targets. My ISP has been quite unstable over the weekend and this morning. A few seconds after I...

    Chinook's EUR/USD (E/$)Mumblings

Sometimes when I enter in a trade I am very confident it will go my way and reach my target. Those times I will sit through volatile movements without a worry. I watch the market still, to see if some big move is brewing - someone going for some stops or similar - you never know. But as time...

Trading Technologies awarded patent for DOM

A simple solution to avoiding all this patent-bullshit which mostly applies to the US anyways (although the EU adopted some similar measures) is to get rid of the ladder itself, keep the L2/orderbook and link it to a moving blown-up (part of) chart with a moving label for last price and...
