What or Who is Driving up Prices?

The Plunge Protection Team wasn't able to prevent the 2000 and 2008 meltdown.... I don't think they can hence circuit breakers and restrictions on short sales. Reasons for selling are too varied to just throw money at the problem. Imo, the psychological factors need to be addressed first...

SEC proposes Large Trader Reporting System

I think the sec should just use the honor system. If there is unusual volatility, firms could just phone in and say "Yo, that was us". I've seen this method work on Yahoo, some trade will go bonkers and people own up.

'Empathy': just a code word for bias

Below is a quote from an article in the NY Post. His words annoy me. Why? The judicial oath requires each justice to swear "to administer justice without regards to persons..." Now either I'm misunderstanding either him or the oath or both. Obama should know better And in his run...

    Karl Denninger..The Market Ticker

No rational buyer wants to pay book value for the average large bank today because most sophisticated M&A professionals know that disclosed loss rates on loans and securities are currently understated. Our guess is that due to poor disclosure, price manipulation by the Fed and regulatory...

Increasing Foreclosures is a bullish sign.

well ya know TGreg I have a theory. I think that many of these "lowlifes" grew up in a middle class lifestyle. Kids reject those values at first but when the time came where they changed their mind and said "Yea, this is what I want" it was too late. No jobs available for the income and...

Too Big to Fail is a MYTH.

In essence, a taxpayer-funded bailout for the Chinese/Japanese and Pension fund holders of GSE debt that should have gotten a big haircut. More graft. ------------ Just as an example, ya think if you plunk down $100 million for triple A paper, the buyer would make an attempt to know what he...

Pilots making $10/hr???? You gotta be kidding me

Why does settlement still take 3 days?

It's been a while since I've checked but how long does it take these days for a check to clear? Last I knew you could have 1/3 of the funds immediately if you had the same amount in the bank, then you could have another third in a few days, then some arbritrary date in the future (like 7 days)...

Mortgage Defaults May Be Driving Consumer Spending
