then you can give your props to me. (you and everyone else at swift who takes what their branch manager shows them for granted...)
I quit trading 4 weeks before I discovered the goods. Our firm only had the connection a couple weeks at the time. I came back to trading for a second chance...
yeah most people would rather make fun of you than help you out... ;)
it's more like bid tick (rather than bidtic)...
do you know what a bid is? do you know what a tick is?
if you know both of those and the context in which you heard bid tick you can probably figure it out...
swift's payout and commissions are better for some... 14 cents a ticket blows away 1$ a ticket when you make 5900 trades in day.
(yes I've run the #'s...)
even on my slower days when I make 1000 - 2000 trades (and make a lot less cash) it still works out in swift's favour... I'd be broke...
I am so glad to see this thread started.
I am gone from the market for at least another week, but when I get back I will join in with a few posts.
Some one commented earlier about not seeing many negative days... Well they happen. I dont post every day and dont intend to... to many...
I am sure it depends a little on the branch, but in my experience they just teach you the very basics.... What a L2 is, what TAS is... no strategies or anything.
if you want to be in it for the long haul you've got to figure out something that works for yourself anyways...
cheers!
mnx
don't count on any 'training'... it's up to you to learn for yourself...
but you might meet some people who you can learn a few tricks from... I've been there 2.5 years btw. It might be worth a shot...

I was wondering if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong on calculating the NAV (or theoritical price) for XLE...
I've attached a spreadsheet with my calculations... (basically I'm just multiplying last price of a stock and the index weight (as a percent)...
I'm getting a # aroung...
hydro, you sound bitter...
millennium volume keeps climbing higher and higher I don't know what you're talking about. (while it was still active?????) yeah there's a much larger precentage of 300 shares orders and algorithimic BS but it's still quite active I can assure you of that.
do...
sure. I've never traded there but I've definitely heard of them. The guy who started it used to be part of swift montreal...
they use sterling trader pro. hopefully someone who's traded there can give you the inside scoop, that's all I got...
mnx
5 secs is too long for a market order on a nasdaq stock (unless it's at the open or close in which case mkt orders to sumo have been quite slow in the past...)
I'd try demoing another platform and see if it's any faster... it probably will be...
